1888 PressRelease - Largest Private Hunger-Relief Organization in Oklahoma to Receive Donations from Weight Management App.

Oklahoma City, OK - foodtweeks™, a free app that combines weight management with feeding the hungry, announced that the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City, OK has joined the ranks of foodtweeks™-affiliated food banks.

The food bank will receive the donations by activating the community, but in an easy and effective way. All a member of the Oklahoma City or surrounding areas need do is, report "tweeking" (cutting calories from their food) to foodtweeks™. The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma will receive donations from foodtweeks™ in the same amount that the user had reported saving, enabling the food bank to distribute an equal number of nutritious calories to hungry families.

foodtweeks™ makes it possible for weight-conscious consumers to serve their communities by feeding the hungry and all while cutting calories from their favorite foods in an easy, enjoyable way. By activating social media networks through Facebook or Twitter, foodtweeks™ users create double or triple the donations to their local food bank. Telling others will encourage them to try their own simple ways to save calories and keep the community healthier while donating nutritious calories to those in need.

"foodtweeks™ is proud and excited to support the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma," said Elisa Shannon, foodtweeks™ Executive Vice President of Partnership Development. "The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma is a highly committed and respected organization that provides outstanding service to food-insecure members of our community."

The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma is not only the largest private hunger-relief organization in the state, but also meets the need of 53 counties in central and western Oklahoma. Last year, they distributed more than 47.9 million pounds of food, which means it feeds more than 90,000 people each week through its efforts. To raise awareness for the need in the state of Oklahoma and engage the community, foodtweeks™ will step in and create a space for both with a tool that will provide weight management tips easy enough to be used daily.

"Using foodtweeks™ is a win-win situation for both the user and our neighbors struggling with hunger," said Rodney Bivens, Executive Director of the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. "In addition to encouraging the public to make healthier food choices, a donation will be made to the Regional Food Bank to help Oklahomans with inconsistent access to food."

The success of foodtweeks™ stems from a unique approach to weight management. Users simply tell the app what food they are thinking of buying, eating or preparing. The app instantly displays images of suggested "tweeks" that remove enough calories to make a positive difference - but not in a way that changes the taste or leaves users hungry.

From a crowdsourced picture database of more than 44,000 images, foodtweeks™ provides small changes that show users how to "tweek" everything from a particular brand of cheeseburger at a national restaurant chain to grocery store purchases, and homemade dishes of every kind.

foodtweeks™ is rapidly expanding its partner-base to food banks all across the nation, with more joining each week, according to Ms. Shannon, herself a former food bank executive. Food banks that wish to affiliate with foodtweeks™ may contact Ms. Shannon by email at elisa ( @ ) foodtweeks dot com dot

Jay Walker, the inventor of foodtweeks™, is also the chairman of Patent Properties and curator of TEDMED, the health and medicine edition of the famous TED conference. A noted entrepreneur, Mr. Walker has founded three companies that serve more than 50 million customers. He is best known as the creator of Priceline, which brought a new level of value to the travel industry.
