We all appreciate when seasons change, we have favorite weather, but change is always nice. Though not for some people, weather change can affect people’s health and mood. Adults can get what is known as SAD- a seasonal affective disorder which is an umbrella term for weight gain, getting flu, getting anxiety, fever, or so on.

But the most effect on changing weather conditions happens on kids. As children have a weaker immune system, a slight change in the weather or season affects them quickly, especially if you don’t take preventive measures. The best way to make sure they don’t get affected by changing conditions of the weather is to increase their immunity using home remedies or medicines. Knowing how you can protect children from changing weather conditions can help you avoid big illnesses.

Here are some diseases that affect your kid when the weather changes.

Flu

With changing weather, most kids get the flu. Most viruses thrive on changing weather, and since kids have a weaker immune system, they catch viruses easily. The best thing to do at such a time is making sure that the kid gets enough rest, and ensure that the flu has gone away completely.

Flu symptoms can get better with home remedies, and as prevention, make sure your kids wash their hands thoroughly and don’t touch their face often.

Allergies

Due to global warming, winters are shorter these days. This change in weather is harmful to the kids as they are more prone to allergies. If you are not careful allergies can lead to severe problems like asthma.

The quality of air is worsening every day, which means that kids are breathing more harmful gases. It leads to whooping cough, wheezing, and even chest infections amongst the kid.

If you live in a city with too much smog or pollution, using masks is a good preventive measure. Keep kids away from places where they can get infection or allergies.

Mosquito-bites

With the winter season coming to end, and summer around the corner, even mosquitos are back. They not only irritate our skin; but as we all know some mosquitos are quite harmful and can lead to dangerous illnesses amongst the kids, like dengue or malaria or typhoid.

Make sure you use a mosquito repellent and stick a patch for the same on the kid’s clothes whenever they are out in the garden to play.

Weaker stamina

The long-term effects of changing weather conditions on kids are shocking. The kids nowadays are weaker in terms of physical stamina. Most kids are lacking essential calcium and vitamins.

One way you can build stamina in your kids is by making sure they eat right. Include fruits and vegetables in their diet, and expose them to the sun too.

Heat stroke

The summers are too hot these days, and long exposure to sun can give your kids heat stroke. Kids love to play outside a lot during summers, and it can lead to severe problems like heat stroke, or dehydration, and so on.

Weather change is harsh on everyone, but it is especially worse for kids. Take extra care of them, and let them know how they can take care of each other as well.
