The trend of becoming an engineer had started in the nineties, when everyone had started to head to Kota, the hub of engineering coaching. Though now, the IIT JEE coaching in Delhi is considered to be one of the best in the country. Whether Kota, Delhi or Hyderabad.. every coaching institute will teach one basic virtue to the students. And this virtue has been the secret of success for many of the JEE toppers. This secret mantra has unlocked the latent potential of innumerous students, who are now successful alumni of some of the most coveted institutes of the country. The Indian Institute of Technology.

Every year lakhs of students take coaching for the entrance exam of engineering, by the name of Joint Entrance Examination, or the JEE. Lots of money is spent for the JEE Main coaching by the parents. And there are some, who crack this one of the toughest exams in the country by self study. Whether a student has decided to crack this exam by self study or take coaching, one of the most important things which has to be present in their preparation strategy is consistency. And this trait has been the key to success for many of the successful students.

Consistency is about following a schedule or a routine, which you have drawn up for yourself, in the process of achieving a goal. Consistency is all about mental toughness. It is actually a sign of being sound and tough mentally and emotionally, a trait which is lacking nowadays. By practicing a skill with profound consistency, day by day, hour by hour, eventually makes a student proficient in that skill.

In the same way, students must take up consistency as a vital quality in their daily study routine. You must study a particular topic with utmost devotion and consistent dedication, until you achieve mastery over that topic. Initially going over the same topic again and again will sound to be very boring, but then this is very essential. JEE is all about having conceptual clarity. If the basics of your concepts are not clear, then there is no point in going around and solving the numericals. The right approach of going about the numericals is to first get your concepts right, and then proceed to solve the numericals.

For example, if you have just begun your preparation for the upcoming season of JEE then it is essential that you start from your class XI syllabus topics. If you have started with Physics, then the best topic to start would be Units and Dimensions and then Vectors. Because without these two topics on your fingertips, you will not be able to attain mastery over the other sections. Similarly for Mathematics, start from complex numbers, learn the physical significance of iota and imaginary numbers rather than just mugging up the formula. Go through all the chemical reactions in Chemistry day after day, till you can recall them at any point of the day. Be consistent. Even if you hit a little bumps on the way and are not able to follow your daily study routine, do not lose heart. Just get up, go to your study table and open your books. This mere act will help you to get over your inertia and make sheer, consistent progress.
