Kannada is a Dravidian language spoken predominantly by people of Karnataka in southwestern India.The language has roughly 44 million native speakers who are called Kannadigas. the official and administrative language of the state of Karnataka.The Kannada language is written using the Kannada script, which evolved from the 5th-century Kadamba script.

S.L Bhyrappa is a kannada Novelist in Karnataka,India.S.L Bhyrappas novels were unique in terms of theme,structure and Characterization.His many Books have been translated into many other languages like Hindi and Marathi.He has been one of the top selling authors in the Kannada language.He aslo received many awards for his works like Pampa award,Kannada Sahitya Academy,Nadoja Award and many more.

Kanaka dasa is another famous poet,mainly famous for his Keertanas and Ugabhoga.He is a poet,Philosopher,Musician and composer.His compositions are published in many languages.Kanaka Dasa wrote more than 200 Karnataka music compositions.Some of his famous works are Nalacharithre,nrisimhastava,Mohanatarangini and many more.In tribute to the great saint his birthday has declared as a state holiday in Karnataka and is celebrated as kanaka Dasa janyanthi in schools and colleges.
