What is the Difference PMP Certification and the CCBA Certification?

People often do confuse the roles and responsibilities of a Project Manager with that of a Business Analyst. No doubt, the working of both professions is highly dependent on each other, however; the roles of both the professions are entirely different from one other. Moreover, the certifications that help Project Managers as well as Business Analysts to boost their careers are also entirely different. PMP Certification is one of the best that Project Management can avail, similarly, for Business Analysts; IIBA regulates the CCBA exam which helps you gain your CCBA certification. Who are eligible for PMP?

PMP is only meant for project management professionals with an adequate amount of experience in the field. No fresher can even appear for the PMP exam. Below mentioned are the detailed eligibility criteria that you need to fulfill to be able to attain a PMP certification.

If you have an undergraduate degree or any other higher qualification, you shall have a professional experience of at least 3 years in the field of project management. In 3 years of your profession, you must have completed at least 4500 hours leading relevant projects. In addition to this, you shall also have to complete an official study program of 35 hours before you could appear for your Exam.

However, if you have a high school diploma or any other global equivalent, you shall need to have an experience of at least 5 years in the field of project management. Out of these 5years of experience, 7500 hours must be dedicated to leading various relevant projects. If you fit in the mentioned qualification and professional experience, you shall be required to complete a formal study program of 35 hours before you could appear for your PMP exam.

Who are eligible for CCBA?

CCBA is also one of the most advanced certifications in the field of Business Analysis. Only people with a hefty amount of experience in the field of business analysis are eligible to appear for the CCBA exam. Before mentioned are detailed criteria to be eligible for availing a CCBA certification.

  • You must be a registered member of IIBA.
  • You must have work experience of at least 7 years with a minimum of 3750 hours of work as a Business Analyst.
  • Out of those 3750 hours, you must have dedicated at least 900 hours in each of the two out of 6 components of the BAKok or 500 hours in each of the 4 out of 6 components of the BAKok guide.
  • You should also have attended at least 21 hours of Professional Development in the past 4 years to be eligible for the
CCBA exam.

  • Before appearing for the exam, you shall also have to agree with all the terms and conditions put forward by IIBA, alongside following their code of conduct.
