There are two types of films, high gloss type and matte type. The high gloss film makes the book surface dazzling and magnificent; the matte film makes the book simple and elegant. The matte film makes the color of the printed matter darker and softer. The bright film makes the color of the printed matter more colorful, but it is easy to appear random reflection. The cost of the matte film is higher than that of the bright film.

In book binding, embossing is mainly used to print letter covers, Cover Texts and patterns or wire frames, so as to improve the stereoscopic sense of printed products, and also can be printed with ink or partial UV polishing after embossing, so as to make the image and text more prominent. This technology is also widely used in hardcover or cover of hardcover books. With the way of hand carving, there are three or four levels of relief effect.

This method is widely used for cover decoration. In the past, people used to iron the case and back of hardcover books with gold and silver, but now there are more and more paperback books with gold and silver.
