How To Do Fuel Injector Cleaning
Posted: Mar 09, 2020
The best way to clean fuel injectors is to do it yourself, but it's going to take a lot of maintenance and skill. This article should help you get started.
Even if you are an expert, you still need the right fuel injector cleaning technique. It's really very simple. The rest depends on how you use it.
Make sure you have the fuel injector off before you start the cleaning process. If you don't, you may damage the unit. Once you have it off, the first thing you want to do is take a high-pressure hose and blow out the oil. If the clog is deep, you may need to use your elbow grease to break up the metal mesh.
Next, you want to soak the rag in the cleaning solution. Don't just use the rag as a cloth. You want to make sure you use it like a sponge. Using the rag, gently rub the clog with a very stiff brush. Try to get as much of the dirt and debris as possible.
When you're done cleaning the oil filter?, use a rag and begin to scrub the injector. You may need to run a cleaner around the plug to help loosen it up. If not, use a wire brush to loosen it up. After you've got a good grip on the plug, get a pipe cleaner and run it around the plug again.
After running the pipe cleaner around the plug, try to scrub it gently with a dry rag. Once you're through with that, run it back around the entire plug. When you have all of the clogs, go over the plugs again.
Now, the last step is using a water jet gun and running the engine on high. You want to make sure the water has completely soaked through the oil filter and into the engine.
You'll want to let the fuel injector dry and then reassemble the plugs. Do this procedure a few times, to ensure that all the oil and other debris are out of the system. When it's done, you can start your engine and start enjoying a free-flowing engine.
If you don't feel confident about doing this yourself, or you don't have the appropriate tools, consider hiring a professional to do the fuel injector cleaning for you. There are several places where you can find reputable fuel injector cleaning companies. Be sure to research the company to see what their experience is and to be sure that they are certified to clean fuel injectors.
Also, be sure to make them aware of any problems you may have. Some of the things that cause issues are water spots and nicks in the surfaces of the fuel injector. While there's nothing to worry about in these areas, if they are left untreated, they can lead to rusting of the plug.
Finally, you will need to test the fuel injector to see if everything is okay. If you happen to get the plug open while the oil filter is still plugged, you may need to replace it, but generally, you should be able to start the engine and work your way through this process without any issues.
Fuel injector cleaning is easy and can be completed by anyone. Take the time to learn about it, and you should be able to clean your fuel injectors quickly and easily.
