Finding A Roadside Place To Fish.

Roadside fishing is a lot of fun. Having everything you need in your car along with having shelter in the case of bad weather is a big plus. You can usually find a spot on the side of the road or a place to park near-by. In some areas of south Louisiana there are pull offs with several parking spots along many of the waterways. Some were made for fishing while others were made just from people and their cars going in and out of the area. Usually you can park half on and half off if you are on dirt and gravel roads. Make your own spot and start fishing.

Here are a couple of tips to find a good spot for roadside fishing:

  1. Look for birds flying around and diving into the water. A school of fish could be under these birds.
  2. Find water pipes going under the road and fish on the side of the road where the water is flowing into.
  3. Look for other waterways coming into a larger body of water. Fish tend to hang around the points if the water is moving.
  4. If you see a structure like an oil rig, stop and try fishing around it. Often this is deep water and fish like to hang around the deeper areas where the water temperature is different.
  5. If you see other people fishing on the side of the road, try asking them how the fishing are biting.
  6. If there are several people all bunched up together make note of that. If you pass by them an hour or two later and they are still fishing, you can almost bet that they are catching fish. Make note of this place because you may want to try there at a future date when nobody else is fishing there.
It Is Now Time To Fish

You should now be ready to give roadside fishing a try. You are armed with some good information from a person that does roadside fishing in SE Louisiana. The tips listed above work and if you try them you may just have a successful day out fishing!
