Singer/songwriter Chris Zuhdi and his college station charting act Goodnight, Charlene are back in the studio recording a full album follow-up to their self-titled debut EP. Turning the recording dials once again is award-winning former Toadies sound engineer Bart Rose. Recording is at Bart’s ultra-modern studio Fort Worth Sound. Zuhdi discovered sound engineer Bart Rose in 2009 and began recording in his studio in downtown Fort Worth between classes. "I just had this sense that I needed to start recording the stuff I was tinkering around with. Really record in a studio and everything. I looked at one other place in Dallas, had a couple of people offer me time in home studios, but I really digged Bart and his studio set-up was perfect." Zuhdi spent much of the spring of 2009 recording in Bart’s studio. Bart Rose had, at the time, just finished turning the recording nobs for ubiquitous act The Toadies on their 2008 album No Deliverance.

Whereas the debut EP, widely well received and quickly added by over 200 college stations, including CMJ "Core 50" station giant WMSE of Milwaukee, was entirely acoustic, the full album follow-up will be something of a departure. According to Chris, "we have a couple of straight acoustic, low-fi jams on the album, but goin mostly electric on this one." The self-titled debut EP, released in winter of 2014, offered a four track sampling of Zuhdi’s 2009 recordings along with new material. It fused folk, pounding acoustic riffs, and college radio rock with tight vocal harmonies and at times brooding, ambient keyboard. The EP achieved a peak chart position of #11 on the college radio top 30.

The full album follow-up promises pounding bass and drums, soaring melodies alongside classic, Fender Strat greatness. In a way, the 2014 debut offered a sort of unplugged sampling of the Goodnight, Charlene sound. The follow-up album will, "add some flesh to the bones", Goodnight, Charlene front man Chris Zuhdi promises. Though new on the indie scene, Goodnight, Charlene already has a history of reversals. Their first single Mariola starts with the chorus then gradually works into the verse. Likewise, most bands follow-up with unplugged versions of their full sound classics later in the band’s career. Goodnight, Charlene did exactly the opposite by starting with a stripped down palette then adding the rest of the color and depth the second time around.

Goodnight, Charlene will be partnering with Planetary Promotions for the release of the album.
