Maintaining Tracks and Rollers

  • Properly inspect all the rollers and replace if they are worn-out. Try to use old toothbrush in order to remove any buildup of grease and dirt. After that use a clean rag to wipe away the debris. Use good quality silicone spray oil on the bearings. Do not use any lubricant, if the rollers are of nylon having sealed bearings.
  • Examine all the nuts and bolts holding the roller hinges along with the track mounting brackets in place. Tighten the loosen parts and get all rusted or worn nuts and bolts replaced.
  • Internal parts of the track and roller need to be cleaned properly by using an old toothbrush to dislodge any buildup of grease, grime or dirt. To clean the tracks use spray disc brake cleaner and then wipe out the tracks with a clean rag to remove the cleaner and debris.
  • Alignment of the horizontal tracks need to be checked properly. Both tracks should also hang at the equal distance from the ceiling. Inspect properly whether the adjustments are necessary or not. If it needs adjustment, loose the bolts which hold the track mounting brackets, tap the track carefully into the position with a rubber mallet, and then tighten the bolts.
  • Now, check the alignment of the vertical tracks. Try to hold the level along each track and check for plumb. To make any necessary adjustments, you need to loose the mounting bolts also hold a wood block against the track, then tap the block. Again check for plumb, if the track is in the right position, tighten the mounting bolts once again.
