Got flu? Try these tips to get better

The flu is a seasonal disease that keeps circling the globe. It is a respiratory illness that causes symptoms like a fever of above 100-degree, stuffy nose, chills, dry cough, headache, weakness, fatigue, and pain in muscles. It can also cause severe shortness of breath, confusion, dizziness, and pressure or pain in the chest.
Flu symptoms are similar to a common cold, but unlike cold, it shows the symptoms head-on. A doctor can try to alleviate the symptoms, and you will feel better in some time. There is a cure as such.
But you can try simple things that will make you feel better in a few days.
Rest and stay home
The first thing that you should do is stay home, and send in a sick note to your workplace. Do the same thing for your kid, if they are in school. This is important because the flu is contagious, and it can spread to others because of you.
The best thing to do is to stay at home in one room, and limit contact. Also, you can wear N95 masks that most healthcare people wear to protect themselves from getting contaminated. You can buy an N95 mask online. They can protect others from getting ill when you sneeze or cough. If not a mask, make sure to do it in your elbow or use a tissue.
Have aches? Treat them
Flu brings with it a lot of muscle aches. It can be discomforting, and it doesn’t let you rest or so on. It is important to treat your aches. You can seek help from your medical healthcare provider and ask what medicine you can take to help to ease the pain.
Don't take any medicine without the say-so of the doctor.
Drink fluids
There is not so much that you can keep down when you have the flu. But you need to eat and keep yourself hydrated as it will help you heal better. Eat light things like soup, porridge, green vegetables, and fruits.
It is also important to drink lots of water and coconut water. Don’t let yourself get dehydrated as it can lead to more problems.
Get in some steam
Your head, nose, and throat will feel stuffy. So, it is best to get in some steam to get better. Run the shower till the bathroom get filled with hot steam. Sit near the steam, but no so much that it burns you.
Saline drops
Saline drops are safe for kids too. It can help you get the mucus out through your nose. There are tons of saline drops that you can find in the nearby pharmacy.
Salt water gargles
If you have a sore throat, use saline water or boiled water with salt in to do gargles. It will help you open the throat and even lessen the pain.
Get prescription medicine
If your symptoms don’t start to get better, you should seek medical help. Especially if you are above 65 or younger than 2 or faces chronic diseases. Without antiviral treatment, you can get seriously sick.
Take care of hygiene and you will get better soon.
