Project managers require a lot of experience and certification to reach the absolute pinnacle of their career. In the longer term, CAPM certification for newer professionals and PMP certification for more experienced professionals is an excellent way of getting recognized for their skills and experience. These certifications are a testament to the ability of the project managers and open up the possibility of being in charge of international projects.

CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) and PMP (Project Management Professional) are two certifications that are considered essential for the career of a project manager. Both these certifications provide exposure on a larger scale and open up new opportunities for project managers.

Check Your Eligibility for PMP

PMP or Project Management Professional certificate course assesses your work experience and your ability to handle projects and manage your teams. Check the following criteria to know if you are eligible for PMP certification.

  • You must either possess a bachelor's degree or a high school diploma.
  • If you have a bachelor's degree, you must have 3 years of work experience and must have clocked 4500 hours as a project manager.
  • If you have a high school diploma, you must have 5 years of work experience and must have clocked 7500 hours as a project manager.
  • You must complete the 35-hour study program based on the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK)

Check Your Eligibility for CAPM

To get your CAPM certification, you must pass the assessment test. CAPM or Certified Associate in Project Management is for newer project managers with not as much experience as those who have been in the profession for quite some time now. Check the following criteria to know if you are eligible for CAPM certification.

  • You must have a high school diploma to be eligible for CAPM certification.
  • You must have 1500 hours of work experience as a project manager.
  • There are no restrictions as to many years in the profession.
  • You must have completed 23 hours of CAPM exam prep

Why CAPM?

CAPM exam prep early on in your career can give your career just the right push and the right amount of boost towards better opportunities and projects while you are still getting used to the job. You can get your skills noticed and make your presence known as an up and coming project manager. In cases where all the new project managers have almost the same CVs and skill sets, a CAPM certification can increase your chances of getting the job. With only 1500 hours of work experience as the entry bar, you can get certified and get a huge advantage in your career early on.

Why PMP?

PMP certification makes it possible for even high school diploma holders to make a name for themselves and earn as much as their college-educated counterparts as a project manager and lead projects on a global scale. All it takes is a 35-hour PMP study program to get ready for the test.

Just fulfill the eligibility criteria, 4500 hours for college graduates with 3-year work experience and 7500 hours for high school diploma holders with 5 years of work experience.
