Everyone experiences ups and down in their life. Though people may consider it as a depression, but it has a great impact on the human body. No doubt, its normal to feel gloomy or sad at times, but if these feeling persist for a longer time, you may be suffering from depression or you may get addicted to nicotine. Moreover, as we all know this kind of addiction is dangerous for the body, but it is so powerful that it makes you feel happy and nice. Well, in this article you will find out how this addiction affects your body and the ways on how to overcome this addiction.

Nicotine is a natural occurring drug found in tobacco. When you smoke a cigarette, this substance enters the lungs and from there it is directly absorbed into your bloodstream. Within some time, it reaches to the brain.

It’s not easy to overcome nicotine addiction, but nothing is impossible. It may take several attempts to stop smoking permanently, but don’t get disheartened if you don’t succeed in the first attempt. Here’s how you can start:

Set a particular date- Set a date that is practical. It must not be too far or it must not be too near. Mental preparation is must. Stick to a particular date, once you have mentally set it. Changing the dates on a constant basis indicates that you don’t want to stop smoking. Let your friends and family member know that finally you are planning to quit smoking, so that they can also offer you support when the need arises.

Engage yourself in a tobacco addiction group- The more supporting people you have, the more successful you will be in quitting the habit. It is not necessarily that you should join the group near your home, but you can find a group of people on online basis too where you can discuss your problems with other people in an anonymous way.

Smoke free zones- Today, its not too difficult to find smoke free zones like you are prohibited to smoke in theatres, restaurants and in public places. So, try to meet and gather up with your friends at a place where you are prohibited to smoke- it will make the process easy.

Avoid things that trigger you to smoke- Think what urges you to smoke? Is it morning coffee? Or anything else? Well, the easiest way is to find a substitute for triggers like if you have a habit of drinking coffee, then replace it with tea or if you have a habit to smoke while you talk on phone, then replace it with face to face conversation. In this way, avoid activities that urge you to smoke.

Go for Nicotine Replacement Therapy- If nothing works for you, go for nicotine replacement therapies like gum, inhalers, lozenges, etc. These therapies can help you to cope with physical symptoms of drug withdrawal. For some people both gum and patch therapy is effective. Consult your doctor before taking any of this therapy to understand which works best for you. Don’t stop any of the therapy in between because there is a danger that you may relapse.

Possible Complications

Well, the above-mentioned reasons are enough to stop smoking otherwise this habit may pose serious health risks to be body. Like it may increase the tar in the body and cause serious health problems like cancer, heart attack and lung disease.

In a nutshell, nicotine is an addictive substance, and it is not easy to quit it, but if you stick to the resolution, you can quit it easily, and the health benefits of quitting are worth the effort.
