Plumbing system of your home needs to be up to date if you want your home to be a peaceful place to live in. Imagine waking up to clogged drains, leaking tap and setting into the bathroom to find your feet wet. Won’t be such a peaceful place to live in, right?

Well, you can understand that how important it is for all you guys to maintain the plumbing system and to get the right plumber or else you can be in big trouble. In this article, I will list down some of the tips that will help you in finding and hiring the best professional plumbing services in Los Angeles.

Check the plumber’s license

While plumbers are required to have a license in most areas, there are always a few who advertise themselves without having one.

Your first step in hiring a plumber is to ask a potential plumber over the phone if they are licensed with your city or county. Most will tell you the truth.

A few may try to lie to you though. Ask to see their license when they come to your house or check with your city licensing branch to see if they’re registered.

You might be tempted to use an unlicensed plumber because you’re in a hurry. Just remember that if they are not registered, you can’t complain to anyone about their work.

You might still be able to sue them, but it’s going to be a much longer and harder process since they didn’t have any set plumbing standards they were required to follow.

Plumbing company versus independent plumber

As you’re considering hiring a plumbing contractor in Los Angeles, you want to know who will actually do the work. If you’re using a plumbing company instead of a contract plumber, you need to ask who will be at your house fixing the problem.

Plumbing companies may send one person to do the plumbing quotes and another to actually do the work. If the person giving you an estimate is not the person who will be doing the work, ask for the qualifications of the actual plumber. If the plumbing quoter doesn’t know or won’t tell you, you should probably hire a plumber from a different company.

The price factor

You might be getting a plumbing quote from a plumber over the phone, or they may come out to give you a physical estimate. Force them to be upfront with you about all potential costs.

Make sure to ask if they work for a flat fee or hourly. Some plumbers charge a flat rate for the job and charge for their labor every hour too. If you don’t ask about this upfront, you may end up with a much bigger bill then you bargained for!

Another tip is to always ask for an onsite plumbing quote. It may be faster and easier to get one over the phone, but you’re more likely to get an inaccurate plumbing quote. Get the plumber onsite to get a trustworthy estimate.
