The Peculiar characteristics of Ilkal Sarees are joining the body warp with pallu warp, which is locally called as TOPI TENI. This Technique is exclusively used for Ilkal Sarees Production.

- Ragavali – With simple checks of two and four ends are generally called as Ragavali.
- Kaddi Chikki – Smaller Checks Pattern.
- Patang Checks – Also known as shirting checks which have more detailed checks.
- Mandap checks – The two warp yarns and weft are placed at a certain distance to form larger checks.
- Dapla checks – Are usually like the Mandap but smaller in size.
- Jabra Patta – Zebra stripes with broad stripes in the body.
- Pancarangi – Checks with normally three or more colored ends.
- Chandrekali – These sarees usually has a plain bluish-black body.
- Basanthi – Sarees with a combination of red and orange colors are known as Basanthi.

Maintenance
- If it is a Cotton Saree then one can wash it in cold water.
- Once the saree is washed with water, dry it in shades.
- Never soak and bleach the saree.
