How to go on with Your Traveler’s High after a Vacation
Posted: May 14, 2020
Have you ever been to a countryside for a few weeks, helped a farmer on his farms, and paid your room rent not-in-cash, but the crops you picked and the weeds you weeded out from the fields?
Have you ever felt that everything you did there on the fields was surreal?
No, it was not bizarre at all, but you may feel weird when you come back to your office and try to find mental balance in those monotonous routine jobs. Many travelers find it absurd to rejoin the city life because their heart actually lies in some other part of the world. While you may want to spend all your life in your dream country, you still have to return to the home country to earn money to be able to afford your travels. Here is how you can be in your traveler’s high and never feel guilty about it.
Live in the present
When you travel, the Fear Of Missing Out or FOMO often prevents you from enjoying the present moment. You may think about the disco party or the sunset point you missed, but then you remind yourself that you cannot see it all, no matter how hard you try. Similarly, you have to keep reminding yourself to live in the present while dealing with the city life without the FOMO concerning the missed travel time. You will surely be there again where you want to be.
Buon Appetite
The above saying means ‘enjoy your meal’. If you have traveled to different parts of the world, particularly Italy, you would know how people appreciate food and are grateful for what they have got. When you are in India, you would know that eating dinner is a family affair. Since families cannot eat together in the morning, they do make it a point to eat with each other at night. They enjoy their meals and thank God for whatever they have got. When you are in the city, you can also adapt this habit to take delight in the food on your plate, savour the ingredients, You may also learn a few local cuisines while visiting a new place, and cook them at home.
Stay curious about the culture
Travelers often feel curious about the other cultures, but rarely take interest in their own culture. We often start taking the local traditions for granted and barely try to know about the history behind them. Just like to try to dig out the history behind someone else’s traditions, you may also do the same when you are in your hometown. Ask your elders about the reasons behind whey they do what they do. When you hire Car Rentals in Goa, you may feel intrigued to see the Goan people performing morning rituals. Just like you would ask them about the prayers that they recite, you may also ask your parents about the stories from the past.
There is always something to do when you are at home, but don’t let yourself be saddened by the things you cannot do at home, but be cheerful about the aspect that you are here to earn money for your next vacation. Till then, you must enjoy your time and live in the present.
