What is a fuel filter?
Posted: May 24, 2020
Caring for your car, we focus mostly on its external appearance. We clean, polish, vacuum, forgetting that the interior of our car is equally important. Therefore, remember to control its technical condition. Every day we do not wonder whether our oil filter or fuel filter needs to be replaced. We get in and drive, not considering that such an oversight can lead to serious damage to our car.
What is a fuel filter?
As the name suggests, it is responsible for filtering fuel. This is especially important when it comes to diesel cars. The most commonly used are strain relief filters, as well as small line filters. The accuracy of fuel cleaning will depend on what type of material we use. You can find the right parts here.
Very often the question arises, how often should we change the air filter? This is an individual matter for each car model. Usually it is replaced after driving from 15 to 50 thousand kilometers, but it's best to make sure in this matter by reading the manufacturer's instructions in the user manual.
When it comes to diesel engines, the situation is slightly different. In this case, we should exchange before each winter season. This is due to the fact that during the frost, more water, paraffin and heavy oil fractions accumulate in the filter.
Unfortunately, the consequences of using an inefficient fuel filter can be large. For example, it can cause engine corrosion, damage to pistons and injectors, or air in the system.
What is an oil filter?
Engine oil is undoubtedly one of the basic operating fluids in a car. His main tasks are to reduce friction, protect against corrosion, cool engine components, seal moving parts. It also supports the work of the air filter, which will not be able to get rid of any dirt.An oil filter is a filter designed to remove contaminants from engine oil, transmission oil, lubricating oil, or hydraulic oil. Oil filters are used in many different types of hydraulic machinery. A chief use of the oil filter is in internal-combustion engines in on- and off-road motor vehicles, light aircraft, and various naval vessels. Other vehicle hydraulic systems, such as those in automatic transmissions and power steering, are often equipped with an oil filter. Gas turbine engines, such as those on jet aircraft, also require the use of oil filters. Aside from these uses, oil production, transport, and recycling facilities also employ filters in the manufacturing process.
How often should the oil be changed? It depends on its type, properties and condition of our car and the manufacturer's recommendations. We should first look at the vehicle's instruction manual. You also need to consider how our car is operated. Are we traveling around the city or are they longer routes? Is our car immobilized for a long time?
Oil filter change
There are many types of oil filters. If we want to find out which one is most suitable for our car, we can use the catalogs, or simply look at the manual for our vehicle.
Remember to choose original filters from well-known manufacturers. Thanks to this, we will be sure of their quality and that our money has been well spent. It is also worth noting that when changing the oil, the drain plug gasket is also replaced. The price of the filter ranges from a dozen to several dozen euros.
