Why do you think the foundation of your houses has to be laid properly? The obvious answer is that it the question of your life and the dependent lives. It is a constructional practice to build the foundation first. This is because it is the foundation that will make the buildings stand tall in the coming years. To build a strong foundation you need to take care of a lot of factors.

The foundation of the house is levelled and provided as a flat base, to transform the weight of the house to the earth in a uniform manner. Be very careful that the foundation is laid properly. Some things need to be taken care of when building a house’s foundation. If not completed correctly, these factors can cause serious trouble in the future.

If your ground or foundation of the home is closer to the ground, it is at risk of corrosion. If you are living near a coastal or seashore area, the risk is high. Once the foundation starts to corrode, your home starts to weaken. Also, the process of rusting can spread very fast. Hence, it is advised to strictly use only TMT bars. TMT bars are thermo-mechanically treated. Also, unlike mere steel bars, TMT bars possess higher strength and ductility.

Why TMT bars are important besides anti-corrosive property?

  • TMT bars are thermo-mechanically treated which means it is treated under various temperatures and will undergo various metallurgical processes. Hence, by undergoing a lot of such processes, the strength will increase and its compatibility increases.
  • TMT bars, in addition to the extra strength it possesses, the tensile strength and ductility are two important features. It simply means that it is highly flexible and has a higher percentage of elongation. We might think higher flexibility is a sign of lesser strength. That is a misconception in case of TMT bars. When it is flexible with a softer inner core and hardest outer core, the constructors can experiment with it. And build structures with strength and aesthetic sense.
  • We know that India has experienced a series of deadly earthquakes. It is a seismic zone. Though ZONE 1, is the area of no danger of earthquakes, in the recent study they have removed all the states from this zone. As nothing can be termed safe. To be safe from the quakes, what you can do is simple. Build strong homes! Your house may withstand any intensity of earthquake easily if TMT bars are used. Keep in mind to use only TMT bars for construction.
  • 500"D" grade bars have balanced mechanical properties with higher ductility. They are found to be most appropriate for constructing structures such as high-rise apartments flyover, highway roads, railways bridges, structures such as airports, hospitals and concrete roads. Mostly every TMT bar company shall provide you with the different grades of iron. Especially 500 and 500 D. With all the balanced qualities 500 D is used by every companies and constructor. Fe- 415, Fe- 500 and 550 are also available. Higher the grade, higher the strength
  • All of us want to reduce the cost of production. Hence use TMT bars because it reduces 20% of the cost.

Other things to keep in mind is the soil type, it must be according to the soil the rebars should also be spaced and laid. Next is a simple logic of not placing it near to ground to prevent it from resting. As a way, the rebars are placed in the block of concrete. The concrete should at least be 4 inches thick at the bottom. Also, there has to be no water-content or moisture between the cement mix or while they lay the foundation.
