How Associate level course – AWS Certified Solution Architect help you to grow in your cloud career
Posted: Jun 16, 2020
AWS Certified Solution Architect
AWS Certified Solutions Architect is one of the most in-demand job roles in the IT industry today. Boasting a salary of up to $150,000 a year in a field that continues to grow exponentially, it’s easy to see why so many people are devoting themselves to the intensive study of AWS technologies. But, how does Certification of Solutions Architect helps candidate grow? In addition to a Bachelor’s Degree (Computer Science customarily preferred) and receiving your AWS certification, there are several skills and areas of experience employers look for when considering AWS Solutions Architect candidates.
Almost in past five years, no other IT sector than cloud computing has made such a hype, investment and interest too. As a result, cloud computing attract certain certificate providers or organizations that offers cloud products like Microsoft, Google and Amazon Web Services. AWS certifications targets on preparing aspirants for operations, developer, and architect roles.
An aspirant for this certification should be highly familiar with topics such as high availability and security, business continuity, costing, deployment management, network design, data storage, scalability and elasticity, hybrid architecture and cloud migration.
The sole foundation-level certification offered by Amazon Web Services is the Certified Cloud AWS Practitioner. While not needed, it is a recommended prerequisite for professional, associate, and specialty certs in the AWS certification family.
Work Experience for a Solutions Architect Career
Software Development: Operating as an AWS Solutions Architect needs basic knowledge skills any developer would already have. Candidate should be able to code in Java, JavaScript, Python, or C++ and need to have a strong operating knowledge of BASH scripting, especially if candidates intend to work in the world of Serverless architectures, where fluency is a must in one of these four languages.
Data Security: Experience with data security requirements aligned with the PCI DSS, ISO, HIPPA, and SOC compliance laws is extremely attractive to potential employers.
Networking: Networking expectance is a skill requested by mostly every staff in the world of cloud. Working as a system or network administrator can help you level-up this skill. Have as much experience with networking as possible prior to applying for AWS Certified Solutions Architect positions.
Demonstrable AWS experience: Three years hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (working either independently or for a company) is about what you will need to get a job as an AWS Certified Solutions Architect. Experience in a lower-level job, such as Software Engineer, Cloud Strategist, Cloud Systems Engineer or Cloud Security Specialist will guide you to prepare for an AWS Solutions Architect role and show prospective staffs that you have learned the technologies from the "ground-up."
What initial skills are required? If you are thinking of becoming a Cloud Architect, you will ideally already have a strong background in cloud computing or a similar technical area. If you feel comfortable with most of the following concepts or at least some of them, then you are probably on the right track.
- Basic knowledge of at least one operating system: Ubuntu, Linux, Windows, Unix, Solaris. My preference is any Linux operating system (e.g., Ubuntu or Red Hat), but prior experience as an administrator or architect in any of the well-known operating systems is also helpful.
- Good understanding of networking: TCP/IP, IP addresses, HTTP, DNS. I suggest that you have some familiarity with these concepts before pursuing a role as a cloud architect.
- Computer programming languages: You will need at least a minimal understanding of a programming or scripting language. This is probably not a must, but it will definitely help.
- Security: Security in the cloud is important, and consequently, a high-level understanding of key security concepts is a must for a Cloud Architect. So an initial knowledge of some basic security concepts, such as firewalls, is necessary.
