Eligibility Criteria for becoming an Officer

Executive Branch - The officers of the Executive Branch can exercise command of the Ships, Submarines, and Aircraft. They can specialize in Gunnery & Missiles, Navigation, and Direction, Aviation, Hydrography, Anti Submarine Warfare, Communications, Submarine, and Diving. Other cadres that form part of the Executive Branch are Hydro, Pilot, Observer, Logistic, NAIC, Information Technology, ATC, Law, Sports, and Musician. Any Graduate/ Post Graduate can apply in this branch.

Engineering Branch - The Engineer Officer is responsible for keeping all the systems namely modern ships, submarines, and aircraft with advanced technology, machinery, and propulsion systems serviceable. The Indian Navy employs a large number of trained Naval Architects in the country. Candidates having B.E/ B.Tech degree can apply for this branch.

Electrical Branch - The officers of Electrical Branch are responsible for keeping computer-based or computer-aided warships, complex missile systems, underwater weapons, radar, and radio communication equipment efficient. Candidates having B.E/ B.Tech degree can apply for this branch.

Education Branch - The Education Branch Officers provide training to Naval Officers/ Sailors. Any Graduate or Postgraduate can apply in this branch.

Eligibility Criteria for Becoming Sailor

Apprentice Artificer - As an Apprentice Artificer, you will hold a responsible position as a sailor. The Artificers are responsible for the management of men and maintenance of some of the most complex systems and sophisticated equipment. Candidates passed 12th with Science stream can apply for this job.

SSR - As a sailor, you will have to serve in Aircraft Carriers, Replenishment Ships, Guided Missiles and Destroyers, submarines, and craft. Candidates passed 12th with Science stream can apply for this job.

Matric Recruit - Through Matric Recruit, you can become a Chef/ Steward/ Sanitary Hygienist/ Musician. 10th Pass candidates are eligible for these positions.

Women in Indian Navy

Indian Navy offers equal opportunities and challenges to women too. In the Indian Navy, women are recruited as Short Service Commissioned Officers in selected branches namely ATC, Observer, Law, Logistics, Education, Naval Architecture, Pilot, and NAIC. For women, eligibility criteria are the same as for Officers.
