Sacrifice is one of the rituals of Islam. This is such an important act of worship that Allah has mentioned it in the Qur'an in conjunction with a great act of worship such as prayer. Ever since man came and settled on this earth, Allah has prescribed sacrifice. Allah said:??????????????????????????????????? We have appointed sacrifice for every nation and nation. (Surat al-Hajj, verse no. 34)

First of all we get the mention of the sacrifice of the sons of Adam (peace be upon him). Allah said:?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????(O Prophet PBUH) Tell them the story of the sons of Adam (peace be upon him). The sacrifice of one of them was accepted and the sacrifice of the other was not accepted (Surat al-Ma'ida, verse no. 27).

After Hazrat Adam (PBUH) when the time of Hazrat Ibrahim (PBUH) came. Allah put Hazrat Ibrahim (as) to many trials. First He(PBUH) endured the opposition of your father. Then He clashed with the government. King Namrood of the time threw Hazrat Ibrahim (as) into the fire but Allah by His mercy made the fire a flower.

After that, in old age, Allah gave you a son from Hazrat Hajra. His name was Ishmael (peace be upon him). Allah commanded him to leave his son with his mother in a barren and uninhabited area. Which later became the qiblah of the Muslims by the command of Allah.

Then, when the child became young, Allah commanded him to slaughter his child. Abraham obeyed God's command and stabbed his son in the neck. But God did not let anything happen to their son. Instead, a ram was sent from heaven to be slaughtered by Abraham. Allah liked the deeds of Hazrat Ibrahim (as) so much that Allah obliged all Muslims to revive this Sunnah of Hazrat Ibrahim (as) every year on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha. And sacrifice an animal.

Similarly, the sacrifices of Hazrat Yaqub (AS) and Hazrat Musa (AS) are mentioned in the Torah. The polytheists also used to offer sacrifices in Makkah.

Islam always urges us to spend on others. If we consider, we understand that after Ramadan, when the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr comes, Muslims pay Sadaqah-e-Fitr. This allows other poor Muslims to share in the joys of Eid. Similarly, Muslims offer sacrifices on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha. This also provides food for the poor Muslims.
