General settings - basic settings that are configured first. Usually, only the language and theme of the design of the program are chosen here.

In addition, in some versions of the program installation of profiles is available. This works as follows: suppose you need to run the stream at different times on Twitch or Youtube - create "profile_1" (for Twitch) and configure it, and then "profile_2" (for YouTube) with the appropriate settings for the service. Thus, having two profiles, you can choose the one that is needed at the moment. The need to change the settings for the streaming service every time disappears.

Other functions: automatic inclusion of recording during the stream, hiding the cursor, etc. - install at your own discretion.

BroadcastingLet's move on to the "Broadcasting" tab, where you first need to select the service where the broadcast will be held. OBS supports about 5 of the most popular services (Twitch, YouTube Gaming, Facebook.Live, DailyMotion and Restream) and also several less well-known ones.

In situations where the servers are overloaded, the broadcast may not work correctly. Twitch administration recommends using the server with the lowest ping value to solve this problem. You can find the list and ping values in real time for such Twitch servers on the appropriate services.

Now go to the "Output" tab. Here, initially you need to select the "Advanced" mode, which will allow you to see more settings and, accordingly, more flexible configure the stream for the necessary service. So, now three types of codecs are available:

x264;NVENC H.264;AMD Advanced Media Framework. Now, in order about each of them.

x264. The main advantage of this codec is the ability to organize high quality pictures on weak video accelerators. The disadvantage is a high processor load, provided that a high bit rate is selected.

The output resolution parameters are also individual, starting from which you also need to choose computer specifications. Optimum is FullHD (1920 × 1080), however, if it is not possible to set such a resolution, select HD (1280 × 720). Setting the parameters below is not recommended.

Bitrate is the amount of information that will be transmitted during broadcast per unit of time. That is why it is also a key element that affects the final quality.

The program recommends choosing a constant bitrate - CBR. This will prevent a drop in video quality during broadcasting. If there is a need to choose the low and high bit rates, for which OBS should not go beyond, select ABR and set these values.Nevertheless, you always need to choose those settings that will correspond to the speed of your Internet connection.

Now for the choice of interval. If you configure it correctly, it will allow you to use the bitrate more efficiently and display a better quality picture. The principle of its operation is the following: a key frame is encoded, the next (second) contains differences from the key, and the last (third) differences from the first two, etc. For games in which there is no dynamics, the interval can be slightly increased. In the case of dynamic games, the maximum interval value can be only 3 frames per second.

The parameter "Preset CPU usage" is responsible for the load on the processor and the quality of the final picture. Raising the value is recommended only if there is a powerful processor. In the case of weaker characteristics - you can select the optimal parameter "veryfast".

The profile parameter - high and main - is selected according to the characteristics of the computer. If the computer configuration is powerful - high; weak - main.

The "Settings" item that comes immediately after the profiles is an optimization. For streaming video, it is recommended to select "zerolatency".

NVENC H.264. This code is provided by Nvidia and is recommended for video cards manufactured by them. Basically, the settings do not differ from x264 with the exception of a few nuances:

Using presets is more professional and it is recommended to select the "auto" parameter for a regular stream. It is necessary to use two-pass encoding when taking into account the characteristics of the computer - selecting this item increases the quality and, accordingly, the load on the GPU.In the paragraph "GPU" the value is indicated in accordance with the number of video cards: 0 - for one; 1 - for two, etc.The B-frame parameter allows the real frame to refer to the next two frames, which can help speed up rendering and reduce the load on the video card. The recommended value is 2.

As for the other settings, they are identical to x264, taking into account the nuances that exist in H.264.

AMD Advanced Media Framework. This codec has presets that can be configured to indicate the bit rate for the desired picture quality. However, if you enable the "Expert" mode, a menu opens with more detailed settings, which are used exclusively in professional organizations, and not ordinary streams.

After you finish your setup and start streaming you may need to promote twitch channel and best way for that is buying twitch views.
