Toyota Glanza launched at Rs 7.22 lakh

Glanza is the first joint product to come from the Toyota and Suzuki association in India. While auto makers have announced the relevant joint models, it is not known how much each manufacturer will add their `` personality '' to the cars. Unfortunately, due to the disappointment of many people, it turns out that the Toyota Glanza is nothing more than a respectable Maruti Suzuki Baleno. Most Toyota expected to make at least some (if not many) changes to Baleno to differentiate its display in some way, but in the end, all that changed was the Toyota network and the name and badge that replaced Suzuki.

So why does Toyota Glenza choose Suzuki baleno maruti? Is there a difference between the two? We compared the two to answer your questions.

Glanza vs Baleno: motors and variants

It's no secret that Glanza and Baleno are the same car. They are identical in dimensions, so Glanza has the same length, height and width as the Maruti, and has the same wheelbase and same boot as 339 liters. With the exception of the Toyota badge on the steering wheel, it is identical even on the inside, with the same interior color scheme and infotainment system as the 7.0-inch touch screen.

The main difference is in the engine and swing section. Baleno is available in a variety of variants at all price points: it starts at Sigma Basic Gasoline, which costs Rs 5.58, and closes with Alpha Petrol-CVT, at Rs. 8.90 lakh. On the other hand, Toyota Glanza is only available in two higher versions: G (based on Baleno Zeta) and V (based on Baleno Alpha), both of which have the same features as the corresponding Baleno variant.

Glanza G MT is only available with a 1.2-horsepower K12N 1.2-liter engine paired with Smooth Hybrid, while V MT runs on a 83-horsepower K12M with a 1.2-liter capacity without Smooth Hybrid. It should be noted that the smooth hybrid transmission is only available with Glanza G MT: all other versions get the K12M without Smooth Hybrid. 5-speed manual and 7-step CVT is the transmission supplied with both Glanza and Baleno.

Another important point is that Suzuki baleno maruti provides the option of a diesel engine, at least until some time before BS6 emissions standards are in effect. Glanza only gets hybrid and BS6 hybrid petrol versions. However, the lack of a Glanza diesel engine is unlikely to hamper, as Baleno sales figures tend to favor gasoline by a large margin: more than 80 percent of Balenos sold so far are gasoline.

Also, for those who want more fuel economy, the G MT variant, thanks to its seamless hybrid system, offers significantly more mileage than the standard gasoline model. Fuel efficiency figures for Toyota Glenza are rated at 21.01 KB for V MT, 23.87 KB for G MT (Smart Hybrid) and 19.56 KB for CVT, which is the same for Baleno.

information and entertainment

Toyota Glanza's infotainment system has been renamed to "Smart Playcast", but in reality it is exactly the same as Baleno's SmartPlay Studio unit. You can get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, features not available on any other Toyota model in India right now, and voice command functions as well. However, Baleno gets a SmartPlay Studio app for smartphones with certain specific features, which is something customers won't get with Glanza.

And speaking of apps, there's another big difference between Glanza and Baleno. Maruti Suzuki offers a smartphone app known as "Suzuki Connect". With the help of vehicle informatics, the app can transfer real-time data about the vehicle to the owner, including vehicle tracking, geographical policy, driver behavior analysis, fuel efficiency report, flight details and live vehicle alerts, among others.

By comparison, the Toyota Connect app, which Galanza buyers will be able to access, is almost essential. It only provides navigation, concierge service 24/7, roadside assistance based on location and locator locator. Toyota Connect services are free for the first 12 months, while Suzuki Connect can only be used by paying 10,000 rupees for a three-year subscription, but for those who want the features, Suzuki Connect is more comprehensive in terms of what it has. Show.

Glanza vs Baleno: Price and warranty

Toyota was surprised at the launch of the Glanza quotation, which is an introduction. While the V MT, G MT and CVT variants cost exactly the same as the corresponding Baleno variants, Glanza G MT undermines the Baleno Zeta's hybrid smart hybrid that is around 65,000 rupees. This is a much lower price without any difference in features - G MT is well equipped like Zeta Smart Hybrid.

Yes, there is more flexibility in the Baleno range: you can choose a true Sigma Basic prototype for gasoline for only Rs 5.58, mid-range Delta CVT, or non-hybrid oil for a total of Rs 89,000 less than the Smart Zeta Hybrid. For comparison, Toyota Glanza prices range from 7.22 lakh - 8.90 lakh (previous showroom, Delhi), and Glanza has many advantages regardless of whether you choose the G or V parts, as there is no actual base or model available intermediate specifications available.

One of Glanza's most important features is its longest guarantee. Toyota Glanza comes with a 3-year / 1,00,000 km standard warranty, as it is offered on other Toyota models in India. In comparison, Baleno comes with a two-year / 40,000 km standard warranty. In this section, Glanza seems to be a better deal than Baleno, especially considering the fact that Toyota offers more comprehensive warranty coverage at no additional cost.

At first glance, there is little to distinguish Toyota Glanza from Baleno, but Glanza G MT seems to offer better value for money than Baleno Zeta Smart Hybrid with its significantly lower price and longer standard warranty. It's better compared to the higher V MT variant, keeping in mind that it costs 35,000 rupees less, none of the major features are lost, and it gets a smooth hybrid system, which makes it more fuel efficient. Toyota's decision not to make major changes to Glanza appears to stem from a desire to maintain competitiveness on the price front, something Toyota has been able to achieve.

The company had previously said its goal was to add value by providing a different shopping experience to the customer, and it remains to be seen how Toyota distinguished the Glanza buying and after-sales experience, seeing how Maruti Suzuki added a little anyway. Plus a shopping experience with Nexa POS, where Baleno is sold.
