Dog owners always want to get the perfect products for their puppy, and they have plenty of choice at hand. A stroll in a pet boutique, department store, or big-box retailer will reveal several puppy products. Some of them are premium treats and foods, toys of various shapes and sizes, plush beds, and doggy haute couture. These are also available online. Owners would be tempted to splurge on their new puppy. What are some items that make a puppy comfortable in her new home? One of them is a Collar and Leash. The collar will hold the puppy’s identification tag that has the owner’s name and phone number. The leash attached to the collar is for walking the puppy.

A good collar would be an adjustable nylon sort that has a two-piece buckle. Owners must see that the collar fits snugly such that it doesn’t slip off. They should also check that it isn't too tight. The leash must be strong, and so should be the hardware linking it to the collar.

Dog Bed

The day puppies step into their new home, they will need a snug bed. While housetraining them, owners will need a crate or kennel. Manufacturers make bumper beds and smaller ones covered in sheepskin or fleece for this purpose.

Following housetraining, they are given a real dog bed. Owners can pick from various cushions, pillows, couches, and memory-foam mattresses. Owners who are environmentally aware can buy beds with a stuffing of recycled materials. There are beds with a stuffing of cedar chips for insect control. A good number of beds have washable covers.

A puppy of some breeds has a tendency of chewing on beddings and consuming foam or stuffing. The owner should remove it in this case and arrange a towel or blanket to sleep.

Water Bowls And Food

A new puppy will require water and food bowls. Owners will find a variety at several online pet specialty retailers. There are dishes of ceramic and stainless steel, glass bowls, and plastic crocks.

Plastic crocks and bowls are the most economical. A problem with plastic is the possibility of bacteria and residue, especially in the dented parts on the surface. Owners who prefer plastic should get a harder bowl that is dishwasher-safe. They should buy a new one when it gets wears. Glass bowls and Ceramic dishware don't have the problem of bacteria and residue but are expensive. Owners who prefer ceramic should get one that is lead-free and dishwasher safe. The best for new puppies would be stainless steel bowls.

What Else Does A New Puppy Need?

A new puppy will also need treats and food. Though small, a puppy has a good appetite and significant calorie demands. Till the age of 12 months, owners must keep her on a special diet for her energy and nutritional requirements. Another requirement is grooming supplies. Though young, a puppy needs grooming. She must be regularly washed, combed, and brushed. Her toenails must be trimmed, her ears cleaned, and her teeth brushed.
