Ather 450X electric scooter launched in India with a starting price of?99,000

The Bangalore-based Ather Energy Corporation has announced the launch of its latest electric scooter called Ather 450X in India. This is a premium version of the existing Ather 450.

Ather 450 Specifications

The Ather 450 is powered by a 6kW electric motor. Compared to the previous Ather 450’s 2.5Nm, the updated motor delivers 26Nm of peak torque.It gets three riding modes plus a reverse mode. The riding modes are Eco, Ride, and Sport with an additional Warp mode exclusive for the 450X variant. In Warp mode, the electric scooter can accelerate from 0-40kmph in a claimed 3.3 seconds and 0-60kmph in just 6.5 seconds. The top speed of the 450X is 80kmph (claimed).

The 450X now gets a larger 2.9kWh lithium-ion battery pack (compared to the previous 2.7kWh). It now offers a true range of 85km. The battery can be charged up to 100 percent in 5 hours 45 minutes using a normal 5 amp socket. With improved fast charging, the scooter offers 1.5km per minute of charging.

The updated 450X electric scooter is now 11kg lighter than the previous Ather 450 electric scooters. Suspension components comprise telescopic forks and a mono-shock with a cast alloy swingarm. Ather is offering fatter TVS Remora tyres as options to the standard MRF low-rolling-resistance one. Braking is via disc brakes at both ends with CBS.

Ather 450X will compete with the newly launched Bajaj Chetak Electric and TVS iQube Electric. It comes with many updates over its predecessor, including a larger battery, increased power, range, and more color options.

Ather 450X price and availability

Ather 450X price is Rs 99,000 if buyer chooses monthly subscription packages. The company has announced two performance packages: Plus and Pro, and the Plus plan for per month, and the Pro plan at per month.

Buying either of the two plans provides you with free fee on Ather Grid points, which are currently available in Bangalore and Chennai.

The company also offers the Ather 450X without subscription plans. This raises the price to for Ather 450X Plus and for Ather 450X Pro.

Advance bookings of the Ather 450X have already begun in many cities, and an electric car can be booked here. Deliveries will start from July 2020.

The Ather 450X is equipped with a 6 kW electric motor, which is an upgrade to the power of the Ather 450 with a power of 5.4 kW, a top speed of 80 km per hour, and is powered by a lithium-ion battery of 2.9 kWh that provides a range of 75 km in riding mode and 85 km in mode Economic.

It has an Android interface and a Bluetooth connection that allows users to receive and cancel incoming calls and control music playback and navigation easily.

Other features of the Ather 450X include renewed braking, shutdown indicators, built-in 4G SIM support, driving statistics, remote monitoring, and reverse mode.

The Ather 450 is undoubtedly the most technologically loaded scooter sold in India. You get full LED lighting and even an LED strip for under-seat storage.
