Sustainable development is an ever-important concept for the well-being of people and the earth. The environment, its components, and people are all dependent on each other. When we say dependency, it means the economy and the natural ecosystem should be balanced homeostatically. And to attain this level of homeostasis, organizations are coming up with new schemes for complete earthly development. To state an example, the sustainable development goals Haryana of India targets are improving literacy rate, bringing gender equality, and reducing the unemployment rate.

So, the role of each person in this sustainability mission is to follow national and international guidelines of preservation, protection, and conservation of living things. Let’s analyse this context in-depth.

The Concept of Education in Sustainable Development

Our planet is facing a critical time, evident from irregular climatic changes and fast melting glaciers. If the earth gets affected, then all living species are sure to be damaged. To avoid such circumstances, Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is important. ESD is the concept of providing the right level of information to individuals, based on knowledge, shared values, opinions, and skillsets. Sustainable development is a tedious process, so giving people awareness about the same is important.

ESD also attends to the dynamic attitude of humans, by making them understand the importance of sustainability and how one’s activity influences other lives. Hence, the standard rule here is to link education with sustainability and sustainable development with the educational pattern.

As we continue to use the term ‘sustainable development’, this process has a few goals that must be fulfilled to achieve the betterment of lives. So, here are the 17 sustainable development goals, also called Global Goals.

Picking the 8th goal (i.e. Decent Work and Economic Growth), Haryana is now aiming for diversifying the growth of commercials by giving employment opportunities with a tune of 18 lakh. Hence, the ultimate goal is the same across countries and states, but the actual value and data vary. But when we refer to sustainable development as a process, we have to take some parameters into account. And there are 3 parameters to promote sustainability, namely social progress, environmental balance, and economic growth. Let’s have a gist on how these aspects help assess the success of the mission.

Promoting the Global Goals: Society, Environment, and Economy

#1 Social Sustainability:

As the name says, the improvement of society impacts the globe positively. Social sustainability focuses on enhancing the status of a community, culture, and its people. Fostering better healthcare services, employing academic resources, are some of the measures to do it.

#2 Environmental Sustainability:

Saving the water systems and protecting the natural ecosystem from after-effects of industrialization, both fall under the category of environmental sustainability. The idea of achieving sustainability in the environment is challenging since there are many phases to consider. Mobility, construction, preservation, afforestation, renewable energy, are some of the factors to consider.

#3 Economical Sustainability:

When the final economy is enhanced, it is going to benefit all the other interrelated hubs of the globe.
