The collet jaws are a kind of chuck jaws that forms a collar structure encircling the object. It exerts a strong force on the object when it gets tightened by an outer collar. The internal collet is used to lock the two telescoping tubes. The external collet is a sleeve with a cylindrical-shaped inner surface and conical shaped outer surface.

They are renowned as the effective work-holding solution for bar feeders, small diameters, and thin-walled or irregular shaped parts.
