In the ranking list of decorative priorities, the bedroom is usually not very high. Vacuum cleaners and the like often have to be accommodated, it is not bright enough for plants and the hallmark of the living room is anyway. And yet: The bedroom can also be decorated with just a few basics and carefully selected accessories - including the atmosphere. Goodbye to the storage room, hello quiet zone!

With these basics for the bedroom decoration you can conjure up your personal relaxation zone:

  1. Closed cupboards instead of open shelves
  2. Play with colors - or not
  3. Work with what your bedroom has to offer
  4. Pillows and blankets don't just create comfort
  5. How to finalize your bedroom decoration

The top priority when it comes to bedroom decorations: less is more. Decorating does not mean completing. In the bedroom in particular, too many different decorative figures, dusty teddy bears and bright colors create visual unrest. Empty spaces and harmoniously coordinated tones, on the other hand, provide the necessary peace and quiet so that you can switch off from the hectic pace of everyday life. However, they can be interrupted in a targeted manner - with charming accessories that give your bedroom atmosphere and personality.

1. Closed cupboards instead of open shelves

Is your bedroom also a storage room? Even if the available living space is limited, vacuum cleaners, drying racks, pooja door and the like can be accommodated discreetly. Use niches! Shelving systems such as those from String, by Lassen and Tojo can be individually adapted to the conditions of your room and also offer cabinet modules with doors that allow you to stow away everyday helpers. Para vents or room dividers hide bulky household items. When it comes to clothing, towels and the like, closed cupboards also have a decisive advantage: you determine how your bedroom looks, not your laundry.

Speaking of laundry, the housing market now offers modern laundry baskets and sacks in a variety of designs. Choose one that matches the colors of your bedroom and get a decorative eye-catcher.

The computer corner also has to be in the bedroom? Modern, space-saving secretaries hide the cable clutter and make the PC subtly disappear when it is not needed. Quiet is coming again!

2. Play with colors - or not

When decorating your bedroom, the theme of color plays an important role. Strong, but harmoniously coordinated colors or a dream in shades of gray? You have the choice! Important: Don't choose the colors too bright. Earthy and washed-out tones are popular and at the same time have grounding and calming effect. If you want to keep your walls white, the numerous variants of gray and cream offer a variety of options. Blogger Sarah from COCO LAPINE DESIGN shows it!

3. Work with what your bedroom has to offer

Bed linen, lights, mirrors, carpets - the classic furnishings of your bedroom already provide the perfect basis for decorating your bedroom. They come in many different designs. Carefully chosen and harmoniously coordinated, they create a wonderful basis that can be completed with one or two other accessories.

Different luminaries not only serve to decorate the bedroom, they also create atmospheric, indirect light. You can add a beautiful table lamp on the dresser to the ceiling lamp and reading lamp on the bedside table. Chosen effectively, the ceiling light can also be an eye-catcher. Pendant lights in particular know how to bathe the bedroom in soft light. Available in a wide variety of shapes and materials, the lampshade itself decorates the room.

4. Pillows and blankets don't just create comfort

Magic weapon home textiles. Combined in a harmonious color, pillows and blankets can provide much more than warmth and comfort. They give the bed structure and complement the bedroom ambience decoratively. Combine your bed linen with decorative pillows of the same color family and casually throw a bedspread over the bed. A pillow also upgrades the chair that is ready to take off your clothes.

5. How to finalize your bedroom decoration

One or the other charming accessory and subtle pictures on the wall complete your new bedroom look. Here too it is important not to work with too many colors, but to pick up those from the bed linen and the walls. Stay true to the style of your bedroom decoration.

In fact, not all plants are suitable for the bedroom - especially when thick curtains block the sun for most of the day. Access uncomplicated plants with little light - the zamioculcas, ferns, the bobbed head or the philodendron live modestly. Some plants are even considered to be particularly air-purifying and are therefore particularly suitable for the bedroom, such as aloe vera, mountain palms or some types of ivy. Alternatively, it can also be decorated with branches, for example blogger Sarah arranges a cotton branch in your bedroom.
