3 reason why getting organized is worth the effort
Posted: Aug 28, 2020
Getting organized can be just as overwhelming as living with clutter and the lack of homemaking routines. It’s easy to put off organizing because of the amount of time and effort it takes. It’s not something that gets prioritized, and not everyone is good at it.
But when it's hard to keep track of things and stay on top of what needs to be done, it’s time to get organized. Here are three life-changing reasons to get organized right now.
When you know what you own and only own what you need, your life becomes more straightforward, and you can find things more easily. You keep from getting frustrated when you can’t find something, and you don’t feel overwhelmed by clutter.
Idea:
Set an alarm and go through your cupboards or closet. Start removing any items you haven’t used in a long time. Have three boxes ready. One for things to throw away. Another for items you want to donate, and the last box for things you aren’t ready to part with but aren’t useful in this space.
2. Save time
There’s nothing worse than trying to get out the door, and you can’t find your keys or sunglasses. You end up arriving late to where you need to go. The time spent looking for things adds up, and it could be spent on more important activities.
Idea:
Make sure everything has a place . Now that you’ve gone through your belongings and gotten rid of unused items, group things together. Use baskets and bins to store items. Any items you use regularly should be easily accessible. Remember to label any bins, so you remember what is in them.
3. Stay on tops of things
Having homemaking routines in place will help keep your home organized and clean. When everything has a place, and you have a set cleaning schedule, your home will run like clockwork. Create a calendar for when to clean, pay bills, and for meal planning. Feel comfortable having friends and family over. And when you have a system in place, it’s easy to get back on track when life gets chaotic.
Idea:
Create a command center. Dry-erase boards, file organizers, and a binder are great for creating and maintaining a homemaking system. You’ll be able to keep track of things to do, reminders for when to clean things, and a place to keep your meal plans. A file organizer will help keep important paperwork in one place, and you can also keep a storage container to save receipts.
The benefits of getting organized is worth the effort it takes to sort through belongings and to find a place for everything. When struggling to find the motivation to start an organizing project, consider these three benefits to help you accomplish your organizing goals.
