Upcoming Architectural & Engineering projects to watch out for in the UAE

AIN DUBAI:

The world’s tallest observation wheel located at the glamorous Bluewater’s Dubai is due to be completed in late 2020 / early 2021. Visitors will be able to take asnap shot of the infamous Dubai Skyline from a height of over 250 meters. With a staggering total weight equivalent to 16 Airbus 380s and over 2,400km of cable. The wheel will be over 80 meters taller than the second tallest wheel in the world located in Las Vegas and nearly double the size of the London Eye in Greenwich, London. The iconic structure showcases the magnitude of Architecture & Engineering Design that has enriched Dubai in to the vibrant metropolis it is today.

BURJ JUMEIRA:

The super-skyscraper Burj Jumeirah will be located in Dubai's Al Sufouh districtnear the Burj Al Arab. The main tower’s design will encompass 360 degree panoramic views and strategically located between Burj Al Arab and the Mall of Emirates. The buildingwill stand 550 metres tall with multiple observation decks and a host a mixed uses including Residential, Commercial and a Hotel. Many consider that the project will be an iconic and infamous new architectural landmark to the Dubai skyline.

DISTRICT 2020:

A sprawling site that is set to launch the delayed Expo in 2021. The district has been carefully planned to ensure the legacy will live long after the event ends. The site is located in the expanding Dubai South area and has been designed to ensure long term sustainable and economic development, moving towards an innovation-driven economy. With an extension line to the Dubai Metro catering for this area it will create vast opportunity for many sectors in business, residential and key growth industries.

DUBAI CREEK TOWER:

This 6-sqkm mega development is strategically located within a close distance to Festival City and Dubai Mall. A feature of the masterplan is the Dubai Creek Tower, which is set to be taller than the current world’s tallest tower, the 828-metre Burj Khalifa. Along with Residential, retail, hospitality and Commercial buildings the master development will also have hotels, recreation, parks and gardens, cultural and family attractions, canals, pedestrian walkways and cycle paths along with easy access routes via city bus and two Dubai Metro stations.

HATTA PUMPED HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER PLANT:

With a cost of Dh1.4billion, Hatta hydroelectric power plant is the first project of its kind in the region. 250 MW generating capacity, the hydro-electric power plant will make use of the rainwaterin Hatta Dam. The water acts as a power source: when water falls, electricity is generated. The benefit in the typically low precipitation areas of the UAE is that the water can be used time and time again. The plant is set to be a feature in the Clean Energy 2050 vision set by the UAE Government.

GUGGENHEIM ABU DHABI:

The Guggenheim Abu Dhabi set to open its doors in 2022. With a collection of permanent and semi-permanent pieces It will be an added addition to the already established Louvre Abu Dhabi. These infamous destinations will create architectural wonders to Abu Dhabi and the surrounding areas of Saadiyat Island and Reem Island.The Guggenheim will sit with a total area of 13,000 square metres of gallery and exhibiting space across four floors and conveniently connected by unique glass bridges. The architecture design will also include 11 cone-like structures with exhibition space and will serve as the center of modern art and education in Abu Dhabi.

ZAYED NATIONAL MUSEUM:

The magnificent structure dedicated to Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan — the founder of the UAE has been specifically designed as an icon to the great leader. The museum will provide a greater understanding of the history, culture and geography of the UAE and showcase the deep roots of the middle east while also the building will be a creative and dynamic landmark with architecture that enriches the UAE.

HEART OF SHARJAH:

Envisioned to be the largest historical preservation, restoration and renovation project in the Middle East region. Having been planned over a 15 year period with completion expected in 2025, the project will feature diverse commercial, cultural and residential projects as well as recreational, hospitality, hotels, restaurants, markets, museums, galleries, ancient houses and significant historical buildings.The project will range from older renovated buildings to newer modern engineering & architecture structures that create a hub for the Emirate of Sharjah.

HYPERLOOP:

The Hyperloop UAE is expected to heighten the UAE connectivity across the wider GCC region. Cities will be connected in minutes. It is envisioned to allow for land travel at super-fast speed: With the ability to go from Abu Dhabi to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 48 minutes, the Hyperloop willrevolutionize the region and bring the Middle East closer than ever.

JEWEL OF THE CREEK:

The Projects sprawls over a whopping 125,675 square metres. Within the development will bea host of hotels, residential buildings and restaurants, while a man-made lake, marina and waterfront promenade will create a new marina area that will rival other already established and vibrant waterfront locations in Dubai.

MOHAMMED BIN RASHID LIBRARY:

Resembling an open book, the Dh1bn Mohammed Bin Rashid Library covers a huge 66,000 square metres. The seven-storey building will be located on the edge of Dubai Creek and be a new cultural icon and landmark for Dubai.

SOLAR PARK:

When completed, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park will be topping new world records by being the largest solar park in the world. With a planned capacity of 5,000 MW by 2030 and investments in excess of Dh50 billion this project has the capacity to create enormous power capacity.

MUSEUM OF THE FUTURE:

The visionary cultural destination is located near the Emirates Towers area on Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai. Many will already have seen the architectural marvel taking shape from Sheikh Zayed road and this prominent tourist destination will create a monumental and exciting grand opening in 2021.
