Lean Six Sigma Green Belt - What & Why

We all must have heard of Six Sigma. So in order to apply six sigma it’s important to understand the concept. Six sigma is used by big manufactures and companies to determine the manufacturing speed, process and error.

It was introduced by Bill Smith in 1980 to process his company Motorola. Six Sigma gives you the tools and techniques to know what is causing the delay in manufacturing, how you can improve the delay, improves the process and fixes further issues related to your business. After a success usage of six sigma by Mr. Smith we can see a huge and worldwide adoption of the concept

So the question arises how does Six Sigma work? It is widely made to aim at how to reduce time and defects and increase variability. Adapting the concept could help a lot in company manufacturing, and working efficiently.

This concept could be explained by an example-

Let’s say you are working in a mobile manufacturing company and they are facing a downfall in their production rate as well as their sales are going down rigorously. The mobile factory manufacturing is defective; so here the Six Sigma concept is to be used. The concept would help them to determine the defect and also they could manage to recover the loss they have faced. The concept helps is reducing the defect rate by 99.99% and also the error rate would be reduced to 3% on total manufacturing. With less defect rate obviously comes more customer loyalty toward the brand & who wouldn’t like to work in a company with great success rate? Therefore it also improves employee morale.

If we talk about Green belt Six sigma it can be said that Green Belt employees work within their own function or own area on the smaller processes that they are familiar with.
