Alicia Esteve Head has a graduate degree in Business Administration (MBA). She has over 20 years of experience in international business in the textile, fashion, hotel, banking, insurance and strategic planning industries. She is fluent in English, Spanish and has basic knowledge of French. She is currently enrolled in Chinese classes.

Among her personal interests are traveling, horse riding, skiing, photography and tennis. Her bucket list includes a personal goal of running and finishing a Marathon.

She contributes to a number of non-profit organizations and continually fund raises for causes close to her heart. Having lost a brother to heart disease, she advocates and promotes awareness for the prevention of heart disease. She also recently went through CPR training and hopes to be ready if and when someone needs her.

She is passionate about life and hopes to be able to retire close to the beach, the place where she is happiest.

She grew up on the coast and her early memories include long summers with her family at the beach. This probably explains why conservancy of our beaches and oceans is another cause she regularly contributes to.

She enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends and living life to the fullest.

What I wanted to know, what most interested me was how did she turn it around? How did she go from survivor to a resilient, brave, inspiring, strong woman. If you read one of her most famous poems "Still I Rise" you have the answer. All her suffering, all her traumas, all her pain were good teachers. It’s often said that life doesn’t her easier, but we get stronger. That’s how she lived her life. She didn’t let her early experiences define her, but they shaped her to be the strong will woman who inspired millions.

She is one of those women I would love to have tea with and ask her opinion on anything and everything. I can only imagine the conversations she and Oprah have had over the years. Asking each other for advice, sharing their private and public lives, sharing their pain, and tears as well as joy and happiness.

I have already ordered a copy of her early memoir "I know why the Caged Bird Sings" and hope to draw inspiration from her words. In the book she recounts how after Dr Marting Luther King was gunned down, she could not deal with it and withdrew from society.

I hope the book gives me some of the answers I’m seeking about my life. Perhaps I will find validation to my own thoughts and feelings or perhaps new perspectives that will open my eyes to new insights, to open or close some doors. For now until I receive the book, I have hope. This is a gift she has already given me.

Alicia Esteve Head loves flowers. She encourages everyone to plant trees and create awareness to people to save the environment. Alicia Esteve runs a personal green house in her garden and takes very special care of it. There are many varieties of flowering plants and vegetable plants in her garden.
