How to immigrate to Canada and their requirements?

Immigration to Canada has many ways where an individual begins with processing their VISA applications to get approval. There are numerous immigration programs and visas available and everything has its own set of requirements for the application process. Before you apply for immigration it’s better to consult a Canadian Immigration consultant.

Let’s discuss few options of immigration to Canada.

1. Temporary Working Visa

There are 2 types of work visa:

Open work permit, where an individual can work for any employer in Canada to gain Canadian Experience to qualify for Canadian Experience class category of Express Entry.

Closed work Permit, where an individual can only work for a specific employer, usually this kind of work permit is supported by Labor Market Impact assessment (LMIA).

Requirements for a temporary work visaCanada Immigration Requirements are easy and quick to fulfill before you decide to work in Canada as well as it requires the individual to have money to support them in the foreign land and doesn’t have a criminal record. Both type of work permits (Open and Closed) have different set of requirements to qualify.

General requirements for any type of work visa are as follows:

  • For employee-specific it requires a LMIA supported job offer.
  • Submit an online application that includes medical certificates, police verification, and certified documents.
  • Language proficiency test results.
  • Pay application fees.
  • Submit biometric results within two weeks of application.

Processing Time of Visa

The processing time of visa is directly related to the country you’re applying from which takes a time range of 5-39 weeks. The time taken by the majority of countries is 10 weeks for the visa approval application.

2. Student Visa

Studying in Canada doesn’t open the doors for immigration to Canada. However, through student visa, individuals get the stay and work experience after graduation also provides the opportunity to apply for permanent residency.

Requirements for the Student visa

  • Identity proof i.e. Passport.
  • Proof of enrollment in the designated learning institution.
  • Financial proof to see the student has enough money to pay his tuition fees, and manage living expenses.
  • Police certification to verify the student doesn’t hold a criminal record.
  • Medical certificates.
  • Language Test results
  • Biometric.
  • Consent proof after studies student willing to leave when the permit expires.

Processing Time of Visa

The processing time of the student visa requires 3-17 weeks. Countries like China, India, Morocco, Pakistan, the Philippines, Senegal, and Vietnam are eligible for the Student Direct Stream program which takes a processing time of at least 20 calendar days.

Once a student completes the graduation requirements, he/she can apply for an open work permit, length of the work permit issued depends on the length of study program completed.

If a student have completed 1 year of program, he/she will qualify to get a work permit of length no longer than 12 months, and for 2 years of study program, student will qualify for 3 years of work permit.

Requirements for Post Graduation Work Program

  • A letter from the institute stating that you have completed all the requirements of the program.

Processing time of visa

The processing time for a post graduate work permit is around 3 months.
