Restaurant cleaning on daily basis is something that all restaurant owners are familiar with. Maintain your restaurant’s cleanliness should be your first priority when it comes to running a restaurant. Even if your food is one of the best in town, but if you fail to maintain cleanliness, you lose your daily customer day by day. This gives your hotel or restaurant a negative review from customers. They would not come back; they share their bad experience of food with their friends also. The money you are saving by not effectively managing the cleanliness & hygiene of your restaurant could cost you way more than that. Govt. around the world implemented certain rules or standards for the food industry and if your restaurant is not able to satisfy that parameter, you may face some serious issues like fined by authorities or worst scenario your restaurant even shut down.

So I am sharing some tips that help you to maintain restaurant cleanliness:

  1. Well trained staff: your staff is a reflection of our business. It’s important that your staff comes to work in proper dress code. From a customer perspective would you want to be served your food by someone who looks dirty and doest maintain proper hygiene? No absolutely not right? Serving food is not all about the way food is presented on plates it's also important by whom it served is he/she maintain their hygiene. So it's important that your staff aware of all cleaning approach during their service hours. They should know how to maintain hygiene like wash hands every time they visit the restroom or doing any other activity when they are not on board. Kitchen staff always had cleaning equipment so that every time a dirty item sitting on kitchen self or floor they clean it and stop bacteria spreading.
  2. Start from the kitchen: your customers may not see your cooking area but it’s that place which most of the restaurant fail to maintain cleanliness. Food safety here is an important factor to keep in mind. Your kitchen had proper food storage compartment or storage areas in a way that you keep your cooked food separate from your raw food. In order to maintain better food storage, you should always examine your floor and surface in your kitchen and storage compartments. Always mop or scrub your kitchen tops and floors before you close or open your restaurants.
  3. Create a checklist: it’s easy to keep track of things that need cleaning, by maintaining a checklist you never forgot anything. You can manage your task on the checklist and assign them categories like one for overall cleaning of restaurant and other for specific areas of the restaurant. Make sure your checklist is viewable, just hang it back of restroom door is not a good idea.
  4. Seeing from the customer's perspective: as a human being it’s quite possible to miss things if you see things one-sided. Similar to cleaning your house for a guest, you should imagine your restaurant from the eyes of the customer. What is your first impression when you enter restaurant? Did the restaurant look dirty? Is the restaurant floor looks clean? The first impression is always important for the guest.
  5. Use Recommended Cleaning Materials: cleaning material you used for your kitchen should be effective or recommended by Govt. you need different types of cleaning products for different types of surfaces. E.g if you had steel equipment in your kitchen you have to buy cleaner just for cleaning steel appliance surfaces. Or if you had a cold storage area you need a specific type of cleaner. On the other hand, if you are into saving environment than you should use non-toxic cleaning supplies.

6. Hire a commercial Cleaning Service: Hiring a commercial cleaning company to do the job is always a good idea because they will come anytime that suits with your restaurant timings either it's on a day your restaurant closed or during after hours of your business or early in the morning. The cleaning staff also ensures that no surface or place is missed.
