Below are some of my safety hotel tips. (based on my research)Upon Arrival:Unfortunately, if you’re traveling for a business purpose you probably traveling alone. When you already at your pre-booked hotel go directly to the reception area and ask about your room no. You may be tired dirty and in a rush to get cleaned up, after that get some sleep or get to the first item of your itinerary or what you want to do.

1. 1.Stay with your luggage, no matter what happen you should always look after your luggage. If you’re going to the lobby of hotel keep your luggage near you. You can’t say, thieves can be everywhere.

If you have no luggage that much you can ask for the room at 3rd or 4th floor where rooms are high enough to avoid easy break ins, but low enough to be reached by fire engine ladder.

During check in:

2.When you used you card during check in look at your card at the check in counter. Thieves can capture your card info that easy. And when a receptionist handed it back to you, be sure or check if they handed the right card maybe they would give you someone else cards.

2. 3. Most reputable hotels with honest staff is aware not to give out or say names or room numbers loudly for security purpose. If your room number was mention out loud by a receptionist, ask to have another room. You never knew who is listening and your room no. is matter or personal security.3.4.Ask for two business cards of hotel with complete names and address of the hotel. So that when you are outside you can just simply show it to the driver. To avoid taken into the wrong hotel. Ask for the emergency numbers too. In case you need any help In your room.

5.If an attendant has accompanied, you to your room. Keep it open while your checking the amenities specially the lock if it’s working.

6.Use a door wedge to further secure the door. Specially when you are sleeping or in the bathroom or shower. Who never knows?

7.When you want to use the TV remote make sure you clean it first, or spray at least an alcohol or wipe using wet wipes. For me it’s the dirtiest of them all things at the room.

8.Put a flash light or your phone near you, so that if you hear any sounds that is bothering you. You can check it immediately.

When you leave your room

  1. Lock things up. Make sure you keep your things that you won’t carry in a secure place or ask the receptionist about liabilities if something happen.
  2. If you lose your key card. Ask for a new one. Maybe it was stolen from you or someone saw it and used in your room. But of course, you need to pay for the replacement. Not sure.
