The manufacturing of parts has taken a great shift in the past many years. As the saying goes necessity is the key to the invention, hence we can say that the increasing demand for parts has resulted in the increased production of parts. And for accomplishing this task, CNC machines serve a great deal. Similarly, if you are keen to know how to use these machines, you must go to a CNC programming Course Training.

These machines help by shaving the raw material so that you get the desired precision part without having to do much. There are two types of CNC machines; 3-axis machine and 5-axis machine. The former ones were used in the past but now these machines have completely evolved. They have undergone a lot of changes and are now known as 5-axis machines. Therefore, without a doubt, we can say that 5-axis machines are better than 3-axis machines.

The difference between 3-axis or 5-axis CNC machine

Now, the question that comes to the mind of many is what the purpose of these machines is and how they differ from each other. The answer is right here in this article and you will find it useful.

3-Axis machine

It is the traditionally employed machining technique that was used in the past to manufacture of mechanical parts. In the past, this was the only machining technique that was used by the manufacturers. The domains where it was greatly used included designing, art, as well as architecture. The most commonly used 3-axis machines included milling machine.

This machine works basically works on three axes as the name itself suggests i.e. X, Y, and Z. Meaning that the machine moves in three different directions for the shaving purpose. But, the advent of new technology has given way to the development of a 5-axis machine. So, let us now learn about the 5-axis machine in detail.

5-axis machine

As the needs of human beings increased, the advent of new machining took place. First, 3+1 axis machines were developed, then 3+2 axis machines came into being, and then the world got 5-axis machines. After going through a few details, we can easily conclude that 5-axis machining is far more advanced technology than 3-axis machining.

Other than having x, y, and z axes, it had additional axes named as a and b. The tool in the machine rotates around the later two axes giving you the opportunity to access five different directions simultaneously. Speaking about the speed, we can say that it is relatively faster and it also needs minimized material handling.

Why a 5-axis machine is better than a 3-axis machine?

These machines, like a lot of modern-day machines, can be fully controlled by using the computer. This results in less wastage, fewer hurdles, and increased production. However, the time taken by it is more, but the precision and efficiency rates are quite high. And this is what makes it more advantageous as compared to the 3-axis machine.

Its digital controls make it easier for the operator to use it and the operator could easily manufacture large parts as well. Most importantly, the technology used by these machines goes well for accomplishing different products. As a result of this, these machines are in high-demand by different sectors.

As a conclusion to this, we can say that 5-axis machines are far better than the 3-axis machine which runs on the traditional model and are not so efficient.
