Before going out for a party or vacation aboard a yacht or boat, it would be great if someone among the friends or in the family knows about the sailing. This way, the group can enjoy on own without having to depend on others and the thrill of the entire trip would be multiplied many times. It surely does pay to learn the techniques of travelling in a powerboat or motor cruises because taking a vessel across the vast stretches of the ocean or the sea is an ever memorable experience. Those, who take up this kind of a trip, will surely wish to learn motor cruising for them, because they would want to be the one behind the wheel in the next vacation.

  • Learning to take a vessel in water helps add to the fun factor, but with right training lessons

When a motor cruising vacation is taken up, there is the need to take the vessel into deeper waters for a few days and nights, since these kinds of boats have accommodation facilities and have various other requirements like buoying, staying afloat, radio frequency communication and navigation. All these aspects require a bit of time to learn and be adept in and these are possible with the RYA motor cruising courses, which take the learners through an intricate maze of theory and practical classes.

  • Training in powerboats as well as motor cruises with practical approach as per set standard rules of RYA

Starting from powerboat training to the motor cruising courses, the Royal Yacht Association or RYA has laid down a set of standard plan for the learners which need to be followed to get the certificates of competencies or other certifications. These courses are divided into various stages, which need to be covered over a course of days from one level to another. As the levels or stages increase, the competencies acquired and skills learnt are more and more in the RYA powerboat training and motor cruising courses. Although one can learn both these courses, there is a slight difference in the motor cruising and powerboat driving. The former deals with boats that can be taken into deeper seas, are larger in size and have accommodation facilities. On the other hand, the powerboats are for short trips into the shallow waters, where people can enjoy the waves and go for short rides without finding accommodation facilities. Therefore, the RYA motor cruising courses are bit complicated and require extensive knowledge of the cruising techniques.

  • Intricately linked course training schedules for motor cruising to gain competencies

Included in the RYA motor cruising courses are a set of levels, such as helmsman, day skipper and advanced coastal skipper training schedules, apart from being taken up for shoreboard training programs. In the helmsman level, basic boat handling, starting and stopping a boat, turning the vessel and berthing alongside are taught. The next level of day skipper in motor cruising is an essential step for getting competency certification, which also lasts for about 4 days like that of the advanced course. Finally one can go for the coastal skipper and yachtmaster training and exam, so that he or she will be competent to be named as a skipper. Since each level is further certified by the RYA, the training programs take up much value, which is also highly valuable in one’s profession and the personal confidence in taking up boating or motor cruising.
