One career that trainees can take after their training programs are completed is a place in the offshore industry. This field brings a lot of benefits to the country and is an important industry not just locally but also worldwide. Just in the Philippines, there are projections of just how big the rapid growth of the industry is in the country, so there’s definitely potential there. But what exactly does it do that is beneficial for everyone involved? Read below.
Beneficial for the economy
Oil is a product that is quite in demand, with over 35 billion barrels consumed worldwide as of 2016. This means that no matter where people may live, oil is a necessity in their lives. It has different uses,
- powering everything from vehicles to electrical devices. Of course, it’s only wise that Filipino seafarers also take part in this as it is such a crucial economic benefit. Not just for the Philippines in general but also for every country in terms of trade.

With how in demand and profitable oil is, it makes sense that the jobs related to it are as in demand as the actual commodity itself. There are tons of jobs that can be found on an offshore site, as well as several demands that come with it such as drilling, welding, inspecting, etc. For many newly-certified trainees, this is good news for them as there are so many openings they can apply for, guaranteeing them entry to the industry.
From here, we can see that the existence of such an industry is great not just for the country economy-wise but also for the people who power it. That’s why it’s important that training centers do better in terms of educating aspiring professionals so they can contribute greatly to this huge and still growing industry.
