From being a perfect movie companion to something interesting food stories we want to munch on as an evening snack, these chips are our saviour and the most favourite one. While some of us prefer to have the store bought ones but making these chips at home is super easy to cook. How to make potato chips at home
Baking, frying and microwaving are the 3 ways in which you can make potato chips at home. While deep frying the chips make them high in calories, but despite of that some people can't resist having it. For those who are conscious about their health, they should use the other listed two methods.
1. Fried Potato Chips
Ingredients
- 4 potatoes
- 4 cups oil for deep frying
- 3 tablespoons salt
Method
Step 1: Wash the potatoes thoroughly and peel them using a peeler. Then, thinly slice them.
Step 2: Add a pinch of salt in a large bowl of water and add the potato slices to it. Set aside for around 30 minutes. Then, drain the water and rinse the slices again and dry them on soaking towel.
Step 3: Now, heat oil in a skillet over a medium flame and drop the potato slices and deep fry them.
Step 4: Once done, remove and drain the excess oil with clean paper towels and serve in normal temperature.
2. Baked Potato Chips
Ingredients
- 4 potatoes
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Method
Step 1: Preheat the oven at 450 degree Fahrenheit and grease a baking sheet with some cooking oil.
Step 2: Wash and peel the potatoes gently and then thinly slice them using a knife. Transfer them to a large bowl. Add a pinch of salt and olive oil to them and mix well.
Step 3: Place the slices on the baking sheet and bake in the oven for 20- 25 minutes until they turn light golden brown. Once done you can take out and serve.
3. Microwave Potato Chips
Ingredients
- 4 potatoes
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
Method
Step 1: Line a microwave oven safe plate with paper towels and set aside.
Step 2: Wash and peel the potatoes by cutting them into thin slices.
Step 3: Place the slices on the plate in a single layer and brush them with olive oil by sprinkling salt over them.
Step 4: Cook them in the microwave for 3-5 minutes until they turn a little golden brown and allow them to cool before serving.
