Our world is in motion, and change is the only constant. We see evolution in every pillar of society in the countries all over the world. Thus, business is an important part of this evolution. Business as a tool can be used to either destroy or build up society. I aspire to contribute positively to the development of my community and society and be a positive influence both in the present, in what little way I can, and for the near and far future. Business studies create a platform of operation for me to contribute to the positive change and development in society through the world of business. Business studies have become my choice course of study as I began to see and understand the level of social impact business has on our society. Living in New York has significantly contributed to making this choice as I see evidence of the social influence of business all around me.

I spend my off school hours either playing basketball, practicing photography, or just simply listening to music while I carry on with my chores or have rest. For me, basketball and photography are more than mere hobbies. I love to play basketball because, asides from the fun of it, I see it as an opportunity to practice teamwork. During my practice sessions, I can have fun, workout, and learn at the same time. Each game that I participate in allows me to understand the value of working in a team to succeed. When I play basketball, I am reminded of the importance of teamwork, strategizing, recognizing opportunities, and proper management of opportunities as they come. Photography is another way I like to spend my time. There is a certain feeling of satisfaction that I get from capturing moments and keeping them frozen in time. As a photographer, I have learned to spot the beauty even in the things that appear ordinary. I like to capture moments and keep them saved for as long as the picture exists. Moreover, engaging in photography makes me more observant. When I am in the streets of New York or anywhere I go, I am on the lookout for anything that stands out. I seize every opportunity I get to learn something new in my areas of interest and polish my skills in the process of learning.

It probably sounds like a general statement when I say that I love New York City, but it is the truth. Living here has been quite an experience for me. It has been challenging and enlightening at the same time. The rich cultural diversity displayed on every corner of the city and the buzz of purposeful activities make New York City what it is. I have visited New York University on numerous occasion since my years of study as a high school student, and I see the same city environment is reflected in the school community. These qualities are some of the things that make New York University a place for any interested individual to thrive academically and socially. I feel like I have had a taste of what studying at Stern Business school might be like, since Stern takes education outside the four walls of the classroom, into the heart of the city. I believe Stern Business School is the ideal place for me to study because education here goes deeper than the norm - not just by the books, but also through experience. Stern creates opportunities for students to have a real-world perspective of business studies, thus making them study at a global level. Learning for me is fun when it is as much through experience as it is from the books. I understand that while the location of Stern Business School makes it stand out among others, it also creates room for distraction for the students who are not purpose-driven. However, I plan to stay focused during my studies at the New York University Stern Business School. I will use every opportunity that comes my way to acquire the knowledge and skills I need to achieve my goal of social impact through business.

One of the primary aims of business in society is the adequate distribution of resources in that society. These resources include time and skills as well as various other services. As a member of the New York University community, I will use my skills to contribute academically, socially, and in other way within my capabilities by joining clubs, where my skills are needed, and by being the best student I can be. At Stern, I plan to not only benefit from all that the school has to offer me, but also add to the growth of the community by being active in school events both within my field of study and outside it.

I admit that I am not a perfect student, but I am eager to learn, and I see challenges as avenues to practice what I have learned and learn some more at the same time. I look forward to studying in an environment, where diversity is an intrinsic part of the system of education. I will use every opportunity that being a student at the New York University brings my way to be an agent of positive social impact in my society and beyond. If I am granted the privilege to start this new phase of my journey through my life with Stern, I will do my best to be a student that brings more respect to Stern.
