Initially it is important for the start ups and their entrepreneurs to obtain various commercial, legal and business licenses, documents and important certification of the incorporation of their business. In Kolkata & Bangalore the initial license and documents required for start ups are the same.       1. PAN: PAN stands for Permanent Account Number. This is the most vital document for any taxpayer, both individual taxpayers and Body corporate. It is an important document available in card shape. Each card holds a unique alphanumeric number which identifies the economic identity.

      1. GST: Now a day’s Goods and services tax is essential for the new start ups. Even when the business has not touched the yearly turnover threshold of Rs 40 lakhs, even then a new entrepreneur must register under the goods and services act 2017. To deal with different vendors and suppliers as well as to get the government projects and contract GST registration is one of the vital initial registrations.

      1. Shops & Establishment act registration: If the start up business starts with an objective with retail as well as wholesale selling of goods or render service to the customers from an office, store room, godown, work place or warehouse it must register under the shops and establishment act. The rules and regulation of this act differs from state to state. Start up establishments which are defined as shops or commercial establishment, residential hotel, restaurant etc must do the shops and establishment registration.

MSME Registration/SSI: If the start ups and new entrepreneurs belongs to the small scale industries and starts their journey with small capital, capacity and work force, the entrepreneurs must register themselves with the MSME registration to obtain all the benefits, financial supports, incentives, subsidies and exemptions announced by the central as well as the state governments time to time. The significances of MSME registration are paramount & it has a long list of benefits which can help the start ups and small businesses.

      1. PF & ESIC Registration: The start up entrepreneurs should also think about the PF & ESIC registration if they are beginning their journey with a considerable workforce. PF and ESIC registration help the firms to attract qualified labours as well as employees.

      1. IE Code: If the start ups begin its journey with an objective to engage in Import and Export of goods it should obtain IEC (Import Export Code) through IEC registration. This code is mandatory for the start ups attached with Import and export of goods and the code is issued by the Directorate General Of Foreign Trade (DGFT). IE code has lifetime validity.
