University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (UWSMPH) is working as the main school centre of the University of Wisconsin. It is situated in Madison, Wisconsin, USA. It was established in the year 1907, and ever since that time, it has been working as the only medical school at the public level.

The Uwsmph is also working as the academic centre for embryonic stem cell research. They are already having a teaching partnership as well as research with the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics (UW Health). It is also associated with the University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation, which is currently working as one of the top largest physician groups inside the country.

Major Requirements

All those candidates who are applying to this medical school should be having a bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college before they start with their MD program. The courses which we are mentioning below should be completed before you plan to apply for the MD program.

  • General Biology with 2 semesters in which one is based on lab
  • General chemistry with 2 semesters which are both with lab
  • Organic chemistry with 1 semester
  • Biochemistry with 1 semester
  • Physics with 2 semesters as both with lab
  • Statistics or equivalent with 1 semester
  • Humanities or social sciences intensive major writing requirement with 1 semester
Admission Procedure

Once the candidate has finished all the requirements, they must appear for the MCAT. The last date on which all the test results for the MCAT will be accepted is in September. The candidate has to score a maximum of 500 on this test.

It is also mandatory that the applicant should finish its primary application all through the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS). It is working as the service of centralized online application under the association of the American Medical Colleges (AAMC). It will probably take almost 6 weeks for the AAMC to send your application and documents to the institution.

Almost 90% of the applicants who have been applying to the UWSMPH through the AMCAS will be receiving secondary applications through the school. Any application will not be accepted until and unless it is not crossed through the fee of processing, recommendation letters that are submitted to the office of the registrar to figure out whether the applicant is a Wisconsin resident or a non-resident.

Once the whole process of application has been ended, the applicant has to appear for the interview session in front of the admission committee. An informal event is arranged for the students without any sort of evaluation. This is an optional event where applicants will be getting a chance to know each other and get along with the medical students who are already studying.

Group-based exercise will also take place along with 4 other interviewees as well as 2 present medical students. Applicants will be asked to work along with the rest of the interviewees to respond to the situational questions. The final eventration will be done by the current students of the medical field based on the exercise.
