If you own a quad bike and like to explore the beautiful British countryside, rather than riding on the public roads, you would likely use a trailer. Of course, if your quad is road legal, there’s nothing to stop you riding on the roads, yet long distances are never a good idea, and if your machine is not road legal, then you have no choice but to use a trailer to transport the bike.

Buying A Combination

Most people who are planning to buy an ATV also buy the trailer at the same time, which enables them to take the ATV home. If you buy both the quad and the trailer, you would receive a healthy discount. The dealer would provide you with webbing, to tie down the bike, and would show you how to secure the machine on the trailer, and also acquaint you with the trailer. It is important to check the gross weight limit for the trailer, and make sure that when your quad is loaded, those limits are not exceeded, for obvious reasons.

Quad Dealers

There are quad bike dealers UK trusts such as Quadbikes R Us, a leading quad dealer that also sells trailers for quads, with both new and used units for sale at affordable prices. Once on the trailer, the bike should be left in gear and also tied down firmly, to eliminate any movement while in transit. Of course, the trailer must have lights, brake lights and, of course, have brakes. With a good trailer, you will have no problem taking your quad to any of the great quad riding venues there are in the UK.

Covering Your Quad

You might be fine with your ATV open on the trailer, as quite frankly, a bit of rain won’t hurt, but you could cover it with a tarpaulin, provided the sheet is well tied down. Finally, you must secure the quad with webbing, making sure that the ATV is in gear, which will prevent any movement, and when all is done, take a walk around the trailer to check that all is well and things are secure, making sure that the trailer is properly hitched and the brakes and lights are connected to the towing vehicle.

Trailer Safety Specifications

A single quad can be transported using a single-axle flat-bed trailer, which does not need to be covered, as long as the trailer is roadworthy and has a braking system and lights and indicators that plug into the towing vehicle. If you want to be absolutely sure about the trailer, buy from an established quad dealer, as they would sell trailers that are specifically designed for transporting ATVs. All you have to do is have a suitable tow bar fitted onto your vehicle, and you are good to go.

If you purchase a quad and a trailer, you will not be limited in the venues you can explore, as you can transport the bike to any location by simply hooking up the trailer to your vehicle.
