Tooth Whitening is the process of removing the stain marks from your tooth. Teeth whitening is the most popular and common form of dental cosmetic procedure. It can really change the overall looks of your teeth.

Reasons for discoloration of teeth

There are many factors which lead to the discoloration of teeth. Some of the most common are:

a) Excessive usage of tobacco

b) Consuming liquids which are dark in color. For example, red wine, cola, tea and coffee.

c) Not taking proper care of your teeth.

Apart from the above mentioned factors, aging and lever problems could also lead to teeth discoloration.

Bleaching

Teeth bleaching, which is also known as dental bleaching is a common way to whiten the teeth by getting rid of the spots and yellow stain marks for them. This process is being followed by dentists from all over the world. There are two types of teeth bleaching:

a) Light accelerated bleaching: In this process, laser lights are used to get rid of the spots and stain marks from the exterior of the teeth and it is used to whiten the outer part of the teeth.

b) Internal bleaching: As the name suggests, internal bleaching ensures that the teeth are brightened from the interior. It begins with drilling a hole in the chamber of the teeth pulp and ends by placing a special type of gel, which is known as sodium peroxide to the pulp of the teeth.

You can visit your dentist who would perform few dental cosmetic procedures and you will have bright and whitened teeth. You may also whiten your teeth at home. You must be thinking, how to whiten my teeth at home? Here is how you can –

a) Use whitening strips approved by the dental associations

b) You may use various whitening toothpastes or gels. But make sure to consult your dentist before you choose one

c) You may use hydrogen peroxide to whiten your teeth

d) You may add baking soda to your toothpaste and then brush your teeth

e) You may add salt to your tooth paste and then brush

f) Make it a habit to brush twice on a daily basis.
