Building With Green Living Wall Panels
Posted: Nov 13, 2020
Adding living green panels to your building is a great way of contributing to the overall lushness of an urban area. They are great to look at, attract all manner of helpful insect wildlife, and clean the air around them. Add the fact that they create great smells and you have the perfect panel for a building.
We use wall panels for all manner of reasons. They can be purely picturesque additions to the inside or outside of our urban buildings and have a good impact on the damage that we are doing to the planet. There are hundreds of good reasons why you should invest in living green wall panels, such as:
They clean the air around them. There have been many studies that have concluded that even quite small collections of plants are highly effective at removing the carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, and particulate matter from the air around them, and boosting oxygen at the same time. Imagine then if you had a large collection of cleansing plants mounted in specialist racks could do. A number of researchers have discovered that, because gaseous pollution cannot easily escape so called "street canyons" (enclosed areas), green living walls of grass, climbing ivy and other plants have a greater ability than previously thought to act as an effective air pollution filter. Instead of reducing pollution by just one or two precent, reductions can actually be ten times this magnitude, which is significant.
They reduce noise pollution too. Ever wondered why cities seem such noisy places? In urban environments, there are a lot of flat surfaces, which allow noise to bounce around from one to the other, and actually magnifying it. Green walls are a completely different surface though. The leaves that make up the plants create a surface that breaks up the incoming sound waves and reflecting them in many different directions. In fact, green walls have been shown to reduce urban sound levels by as much as 15 decibels and, since the decibel scale is logarithmic, that is significant. Since green living wall panels can be fitted to a large proportion of urban walls, this could put a huge dent in the noise pollution found in cities.
The protect good insects. Depending upon the types of walls that you have installed, living green walls can go a long way to supporting local wildlife and that means auto pollination of your plants, as well as contributing to the wellbeing of species such as bees. Without many of these insects, we would also see many plant types dying out as they wouldn’t be able to pollinate, so the living walls help sustain themselves.
They promote wellbeing. Many studies have found that having plants in a work or home area can contribute significantly to metal wellbeing. Green living walls can be just as at home inside as well as on the outer walls of buildings so can be used to promote healthy living. Depending upon which plants you select for your living green walls, the scent from the flowers reinforces the visual effects, making the green wall doubly soothing.
Living green walls are an obvious solution to many of the ills that we have found with cities. They are easy to fit, cost-effective, and generally self-sustaining. They tend to incorporate a cassette-planting system which makes the fitting and replacement of plants are easy to do as well, so if you fancy a change of plants, you can usually get it done over the space of a few days.
If you are considering such a system inside your offices, these also make ideal room dividers and can be used to close off areas of the office as required. Giving excellent soundproofing, these can definitely benefit an open-plan office space. Get some living green walls today – either inside or out – and start feeling the benefits immediately.
