What is an IP1 License?

IP1 License is the authorization by the Department of Telecommunication to a company to operate as an infrastructure provider. Once the applicant acquires it, he can provide resources such as right of way, duct space, towers and other passive infrastructures.

Process to become an infrastructure provider

1. Become eligible to get the certificate: First, you need to become eligible to acquire the Ip1 license. It’s easy. All you have to do is register a company. While doing that, mention in the objective that you’re planning become an infrastructure provider.

2. Gather the required documents: After registration of your company, you become eligible to file the application to get IP1 License. But first, gather the required documents as follows:

a. Certificate of incorporation of your company.

b. Memorandum of association of your company

c. Articles of association of your company.

d. Certificate of the CA that has certified your documents.

e. Details of the firm that the CA works at.

1. Submit the application of IP1 License: Attach the aforementioned documents to the downloaded application of IP1 License that you would have to fill and submit offline.
2. Wait while DOT assesses your application: After receiving your application, the DOT will order an assessment officer to scrutinize it fully for any errors. If no errors are found, you’ll receive your IP1 certificate via speed post.
