7 Obsolete trends and practises in Web Design

When you roll on to the website, several ads and campaigns start automatically and give the consumer little or no control about when they finish or start. That needs to stop, needless to say.

4. Flash

It is so clear that Flash is almost as obsolete as the gramophone (joke), but since many web sites are still using them, this adds it to the list. Even after Adobe and numerous browsers have formally announced that they would be cutting Flash support, it continues to be used by different websites. For not one good reason, but several, including safety and usability issues, the player was disabled. If you do want to use it, however, know that only a displayed image over the flash section can show your users or website audience saying Adobe Flash Player is blocked or not sponsored.

5. Huge Photos

We mean photos by saying big or large images that take up large sections of your homepage. It can be a single image or with an action button, a sequence of images. They may be seemingly really cool from the design perspective but users feel differently about it. While consumers are now calling for the image section to be kept smaller, it also came as feedback from many users that these images appear to drive the content further down, taking away from the website's real purpose and usefulness. Therefore with normally-sized photographs, keep the call to action straight in front and easily visible.

6. Disturbing Pop-Ups

We have all been there, avoiding numerous pop-up menus or buttons that appear when you enter a website from nowhere. The issue is not only that they are too early or too many at once, it is the very nature of the pop-up that gives the user no choice but to read the pop-up or look at it. To add to that, they often lead to their Facebook messenger or chatbot bombarding you with messages or asking you to comply with and make a choice on the website for a promotional deal, sigh!

7. Same Links Tab

For promotional, navigational, and other reasons, different websites add links that work well but the problem is when these links open in the same tab, taking the user away from your page and replacing it with another. This is not only distracting, but conversion rates actually need to decrease. The next time you add a link to your blog, keep this in mind.

With 2020, multiple such concept elements need to go away as in several respects they are both feared and disappointing. Make space for new content, layout, and designs that fit with the objectives of your website and continue to extend your scope through periodic reviews and surveys. No one will tell you better than the audience itself on what strategy or design feature to use that would work best for your targeted demographic.
