First of all, the salon owners should know all of their options before purchasing any styling station. Hair styling stations can vary as much as the prices can. First thing that needs to be addressed is what actually fits their needs. Do they need a wet station? Or do they need separate shampoo, cutting, and styling stations?

Wet stations are very handy and are great for smaller salons. There is a shampoo bowl under the top work area. These type of stations are an all-in-one kind. When shampooing a client the lid can be easily lifted and lowered when they are finished. The top then becomes a large work area great for coloring, perming, or any other services. They come equipped with a drawer(s) for combs, brushes, shears, or whatever the stylist needs. Under the drawer is a cabinet for clean towels and some extra storage. Some of these stations also include plug-ins for hot tools and some fixtures to hold the hot tools.

For those salon owners that prefer separate equipment; there are a lot of options. If they are using the stations for all services except shampooing, then they may require a station with a larger work area. These types of stations can be a simple drawer with a "table top" work area or a small ledge with holes for the stylists hot irons. Then add a mirror to the top and there's the station. Of course all stations will still need a styling chair.

Some styling stations are just a chair, mirror, and wall-mounted hot tool holder. With this type of styling station, the salon owner can let their imagination run wild. From classic to modern or from contemporary to abstract; there so many choices in design. This all depends on the salon owners taste or the type of clientele they want to attract.

Salon owners should also consider the color scheme. This could be the elegant, classy look of all black and silver combinations. Or the abstract designs by mixing shapes and sizes making every station look completely different. There is another alternative, too. The trendy look can be specific like a particular theme or bright colors and flashy accents. Whatever the look is there needs to be a flow about it.

In conclusion, when shopping for styling stations, they should have a good idea of what they are looking for. There are a few other things to keep in mind; like keep it practical. Make sure to choose the right type of hair styling station that fits the salon. Always consider what the clientele would enjoy. And definitely make sure it is cost efficient, as well as, making sure not to over crowd the salon.
