How are men and women clothing different?
Posted: Dec 10, 2020
Fashion is a hot topic, and clothing of different kinds are on the rise. Brands come with their varieties while the low-end manufacturers have won a good market share for producing replica clothing. However, it can get confusing at times when it comes to men and women’s clothing.
This is a question answered by several fashionistas and fashion bloggers across the world. Yet, there is no definite answer to the same. Let us understand the difference for once and for all –
Clothing length
Mens clothing is typical of fuller length as opposed to women. Their long-sleeve shirts, suits, and trousers are heavier, consuming more material than women’s. Ladies clothing which includes skirts, blouses, shirts, etc. is often lightweight as they require minimal clothing material. Since women’s wear are more revealing than men, they need lesser fabric.
Design
Mens informal and formal clothes are sober than female counterparts, which come in different fantasy kind of design. Since women are delicate men. Their clothing also defines the terms of design. Women’s garment generally includes inspired accessories, furs, glitters, and more, which makes the ladies stand out.
Prints
Female prints move more towards the floral and feminine inspirations, which are almost bright and colourful. Mens clothing, on the other hand, is blunt. Women prints are lighter and inspire colours which brighten up your days. The famous female colours include pink, violet, and brighter shades like yellow and orange.
Number of pieces
Womens clothing numbers are not limited. They could wear one-piece dresses, two-piece skirt and blouse, three-piece short skirt, shirt, and leggings. The number only increases if they add on accessories like scarves and so on. Sometimes, traditional culture can demand more clothes for women such as veils for Muslims, unique uniforms for nuns, kurta, churidar, and dupatta for women. As for men, the clothing is most two or three pieces, three for the workwear. So, trousers and shirts could include jeans, pants, and complemented by shirts, t-shirts, long and short sleeve shirts, and polo tops.
Now, the focus on two primary difference is –
Women buy apparels frequently
Women purchase apparels more than men, be it for men or themselves. They mostly invest in undergarments or nightwear. This trend is distinguishable as research says women are most likely to buy an item more than men for every segment except accessories. Elevated purchasing rates among women are because women buy clothes for both men and children. The other measures why women buy more apparel than men are –
- Price
- Fitting
- Look good
Even men consider the mentioned factors crucial while shopping.
Men are more into online shopping
Overall, both genders utilise different shopping methods at varied rates. Men consider a branded website more than women. Men prefer online mode, as they found better options and trends there.
Nowadays, specific accessories and clothes are unisex. Hence, this makes it easy for both men and women to shop for any. This is especially common in urban, and hip-hop clothing, vintage styles, and street wears. This is also true for fashion accessories like hats, caps, sunglasses, and like.
