Choosing the right school for a child is one of the most important responsibilities of a parent or guardian. In today’s day and age, when parents lead hectic lives, it becomes very difficult for them to take care of their children and focus on their educational needs. In such a situation, enrolling your child at a boarding school is a very good option. A few months back, one of my relatives was looking for a Boarding school in Bangalore, and he shared his experiences with me. At first, he had several misconceptions about boarding schools like many other parents. Most parents don’t opt for a boarding school because of some common misconceptions. However, there are some excellent residential boarding schools in Bangalore that offer world-class education and boarding facilities. Let’s take a look at some of the myths that people have before enrolling children to a boarding school.

Boarding schools are expensive

There is a general notion that boarding schools are extremely costly and unaffordable. Yes, it is true that the fee structure is slightly on the higher side because of the added infrastructure that’s required for boarding facilities. However, in today’s times, some parents prefer boarding schools for their children and many of the best boarding schools in Bangalore are now offering quality education that’s value for money. One must realize that the more you invest in quality education for your child, it better it would be for his/her future.

Safety of students is a big concern

The other general misconception is that children are not safe in boarding schools. Parents worry that their children may come in contact with bad company and may indulge in bad habits. Most of these issues are closely monitored at some of the top IB schools in Bangalore with boarding facilities. The curriculum, faculty, infrastructure and supporting staff are all aligned to the school’s vision of nurturing young students to make them independent and ready for the future challenges of the world.

Student-life is stressful in boarding schools

There’s also another myth among parents that students at boarding schools have to face a lot of stress. They feel that the teachers put pressure on students to improve their academic performance. There was a time when academics was the only focal point for many schools, but the scenario has changed in a big way today. Some of the boarding schools in Bangalore have a special curriculum that engages students in all kinds of extracurricular activities such as sports, dance, music, performing arts and much more. The entire learning process is made fun for students so that they can understand concepts easily. The idea of mugging up answers to score good marks is not encouraged in these schools. Most students would definitely enjoy such learning experiences as there is no pressure of any kind on them.

Students are never in contact with parents

Boarding schools are generally meant to give children a dedicated learning environment that’s free of any kind of distractions. Some parents feel that children will become more distant from them. But the reality is that children become more independent when they study in a boarding school. They also become more responsible as they don’t rely on anyone for doing their daily chores or activities. The more you make your children independent, the more ready they would be to face the outside world when they grow up. Also, some boarding schools such as Ebenezer International School Bangalore, give children a chance to meet their parents regularly and interact with them. Always check with the school management about their policies from the beginning to get a clear understanding.

With changing times, parents also need to look at ways in which they can offer their children a chance to experience quality education. A boarding school is definitely a very good option since children explore their talents and become more confident due to the rich curriculum. It’s best to stay away from any kind of misconceptions so that you are ensuring that your child gets the ideal learning environment to grow, improve their skills and become successful individuals going forward.
